Conclusão: Aumentar a conscientização e sensibilizar os cuidadores é imperativo para esclarecimentos sobre a epilepsia no ambiente familiar de forma muito clara e acessível.ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze, from the case of newborn with microcephaly related to Zika virus infection, its clinical characteristics and implications for health care and nursing. Content: microcephaly is a congenital anomaly in which the cephalic perimeter (CP) is smaller than or equal to 32cm. In 2015/2016, an outbreak of microcephaly associated with the Zika virus evoked an international debate on the subject. From a case report, we analyzed and discussed findings of a child with microcephaly and with severe neurological repercussions in the first 24 hours of life. The newborn, few hours after birth, presented recurring episodes of tonic-clonic seizures lasting about three minutes. That way, epilepsy associated with microcephaly becomes an aggravation, demanding special attention. Conclusion: Raising awareness and sensitizing caregivers is imperative for clarification about epilepsy in the family setting in a very clear and accessible way.
ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: The care process for a child is considered complex, and requires the professional theoretical knowledge that bases this care, aiming at the particularities of each being. Nurses who work in pediatrics units compete with the challenge of performing Nursing Care Systematization (SAE) with their practice, uniting the needs of children and their families, in which some particularities must be considered in the development of each of these stages. OBJECTIVES: To identify the profiles of nursing diagnoses in pediatric wards. METHOD: This is a descriptive, quantitative study with data on nursing diagnoses in the charts of children hospitalized from January 2015 to January 2016 in three pediatric wards of a school hospital. RESULTS: A sample composed by analysis of 365 charts distributed by the three wards, in which male children predominated, the majority were considered brown. There were 83 nursing diagnoses registered, with prevalence of: Falls risk, Infection risk and Ineffective health Maintenance. CONCLUSION: The nursing diagnoses allowed the recognition of the profile of the clientele and could assist in the planning of nursing actions to establish care for the children. Nursing diagnoses of higher occurrence, risk of falls and infection, guide the specific care of these children focused on characteristics of the age group and exposure to factors that can trigger an infectious process. Recognizing how the nursing process has been caring for the hospitalized child helps nurses plan and improve care. Keywords: Nursing diagnoses. Nursing Care. Pediatrics.
