Objetivo: Identificar as repercussões do diabetes mellitus em pessoas idosas hospitalizadas em relação a capacidade funcional. Métodos: Trata-se de estudo transversal, descritivo com análise quantitativa. Os dados coletados foram sociodemográficos, de condições de saúde, capacidade funcional e os relacionados ao diabetes mellitus. Para a avaliação da capacidade funcional foram aplicadas as escalas de Katz e Lawton. Os participantes incluídos no estudo eram pessoas idosas com 60 anos ou mais e estavam hospitalizadas na unidade de clínica médica de um hospital universitário em Brasília, Distrito Federal. Resultados: Ao todo foram incluídos 25 participantes, com média de idade de 70 anos, sendo a maioria mulheres, casadas ou viúvas, com ensino fundamental incompleto e renda de um salário mínimo. Quanto aos hábitos de vida, 92% não realizavam nenhum tipo de atividade física, 36% era ex-tabagista e 28% faziam uso de álcool. Observou-se que 60% dos idosos eram dependentes no desempenho de atividades básicas de vida diária e 92% eram dependentes em alguma das atividades instrumentais em seu cotidiano. Conclusão: A maioria das pessoas idosas que participou da presente pesquisa apresentou algum grau de comprometimento na realização de atividades de autocuidado básicas e nas atividades mais complexas, resultando em maior comprometimento da capacidade funcional, o que impacta diretamente nos cuidados que o diabetes mellitus exige, o que pode acarretar em maiores chances desta população vir a desenvolver outras complicações relacionadas ao diabetes mellitus devido a capacidade de autocuidado estar prejudicada.
A relevância do Design Generativo ganhou espaço, desde a década de 1980. Balanceado por um jogo de forças, o Design Generativo apresenta ampla expansão na produção científica, fruto da maturidade de pelo menos 40 anos de trajetória desde os primeiros registros. Por outro lado, a recente escalada no interesse de instituições relacionadas ao desenvolvimento tecnológico, gerou crescimento significativo no número de patentes a partir de meados de 2015. Pela natureza técnica do campo, a ponte entre essas duas forças encontra caminhos abertos para que o tema cresça cada vez mais nos próximos anos. Diante de tal cenário, o presente artigo tem como objetivo investigar o ambiente científico e tecnológico no âmbito do Design Generativo, a partir de um mapeamento realizado em bases de dados de artigos e patentes. Com vistas ao desenvolvimento de novas pesquisas, o estímulo ao ensino de tecnologias emergentes, bem como aos benefícios do investimento em Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento e transferência de tecnologia na área, a pesquisa busca atrair novos olhares e a ampliação dos esforços no Brasil e no mundo. Pretende-se a partir dessas informações identificar a relevância, interesses e mobilizações tecnológicas dos atores, o que poderá indicar concentrações de forças e uma necessidade de maior competitividade no segmento. Como resultado central, a pesquisa apresenta os principais atores envolvidos na produção científica e tecnológica no design Generativo no mundo, bem como os subgrupos IPC de patentes de maior interesse dos cinco maiores depositantes. A pesquisa também revela a oportunidade para que as universidades protagonistas da produção científica no tema, articulem-se na criação de ações que favoreçam o contexto de propriedade intelectual em seus polos de atuação, o que pode servir como fator favorável a um ambiente mais competitivo no Design Generativo fortalecido a partir de Sistemas Nacionais de Inovação Regionais e Locais especializadas (SNIs).
