Las emisiones de carbono (C) a la atmósfera, así como sus reservorios, en el sector de agricultura, silvicultura y otros usos del suelo son signif icativas en el balance global del ciclo del carbono; sin embargo, a pesar de esta importancia, es el sector con la mayor incertidumbre en el balance global debido principalmente a la falta de conocimiento preciso de los factores de emisión, por lo que se requiere mayor investigación en el tema. Debido a lo anterior, este trabajo tuvo como objetivo estimar el C almacenado en los cinco depósitos considerados en ecosistemas forestales: biomasa viva sobre el suelo, biomasa viva debajo del suelo, madera muerta sobre el suelo, mantillo y carbono orgánico del suelo (COS) en dos sitios de muestreo ubicados en las faldas del Monte Tláloc, Texcoco, Estado de México: el primero en un bosque de oyamel (Abies religiosa) y el segundo en un bosque de ciprés (Cupressus lusitanica). El promedio de la densidad de carbono en el bosque de oyamel en los cinco depósitos estimados fue de 376 Mg ha‑1, siendo el depósito más importante el de biomasa aérea (59%), seguido del COS (22%); en tanto que en el bosque de ciprés fue de 205 Mg ha-1, siendo el depósito con mayor densidad el COS (50%), seguido de biomasa aérea (36%). Los valores de densidad de carbono para biomasa aérea en el caso de bosque de oyamel fueron superiores a los reportados en otros trabajos; lo cual se explica por la existencia de árboles de grandes dimensiones de esta especie en el sitio de muestreo, lo cual nos da una idea precisa del potencial como almacén de carbono que este tipo de vegetación tiene cuando llegan a estados maduros.
El desarrollo de instrumentos de gestión de riesgos climáticos permite instrumentar acciones de adaptación ante el cambio climático, además de hacer ef iciente el uso de recursos f inancieros para mitigar los impactos. En México, el empleo de estos instrumentos no se ha documentado, por lo que en este trabajo se desarrolla un marco conceptual-teórico para la instrumentación de seguros ganaderos paramétricos satelitales, con la f inalidad de exponer sus ventajas y delimitar sus alcances. Para tal f in, se aplicaron los conceptos de unidad de riesgo, umbral de pago y elementos asociados al seguro, para establecer el riesgo climático que se asocia a las actividades agropecuarias, principalmente por sequías. Bajo el requerimiento crítico de una relación lineal entre el índice espectral y la biomasa vegetal, sin constante aditiva, se usó el índice espectral NDVIcp, optimizado por diversos efectos, lo que dio lugar al desarrollo de un esquema de seguro técnicamente sólido, sin el requisito de contar con información histórica de producción agropecuaria y que, además, refleja f ielmente la realidad en campo. Todo lo anterior, permitió sentar las bases para el diseño de un seguro ganadero paramétrico satelital de tipo catastróf ico sólido, transparente y conceptualmente accesible a los usuarios del mismo.
La eficiencia del uso de nitrógeno en la agricultura es muy baja, provocando problemas ambientales y baja productividad de los cultivos, por lo que conocer la distribución espacial y temporal de variables biofísicas que estimen su crecimiento, como la fracción de cobertura vegetal (FCV), y el contenido de nitrógeno del dosel (CND) aportará información valiosa para mejorar esta condición. El uso de imágenes satelitales de libre acceso, como las imágenes del satélite Sentinel-2 (S‑2), puede facilitar esta tarea. Con base en lo anterior, se realizó un estudio en seis parcelas de maíz, cultivadas por productores de la zona de Texcoco de Mora, Estado de México, cuyo primer objetivo fue investigar la relación entre índices espectrales, estimados a partir de la reflectancia, medida con un radiómetro multiespectral a nivel de superficie y de imágenes S-2; con la FCV, estimada mediante fotografías digitales a través de la aplicación para celulares Canopeo. El segundo objetivo fue obtener un modelo lineal para estimar el CND a partir del análisis de diferentes índices espectrales. Se generaron dos modelos para estimar la FCV, a partir de la información radiométrica a nivel de superficie, la validación de estos arrojó un valor alto de R2 = 0.92 y un CME = 7.3% entre datos de FCV medidos y estimados; sin embargo, en el caso de los datos estimados con imágenes S-2 se obtuvieron valores más bajos de R2 = 0.67 y CME = 17.6%, lo cual se atribuyó a un posible efecto de la atmósfera, ya que el periodo de estudio coincidió con la temporada de lluvias. Finalmente, en el caso del CND, los mejores resultados se obtuvieron con el modelo generado a partir del ClGreen, con el cual se obtuvo un R2 de 0.91 y un CME de 0.63 g m-2, al comparar el CND medido con relación al estimado.
La clasificación de uso del suelo y vegetación es un ejercicio complejo y difícil de realizar con métodos tradicionales, por lo que los modelos de aprendizaje profundo son una alternativa para su aplicación debido a que son altamente capaces de aprender esta semántica compleja, lo que hace plausible su aplicación en la identificación automática de usos del suelo y vegetación, a partir de patrones espacio-temporales extraídos de su apariencia. El objetivo del presente estudio fue proponer y evaluar un modelo de red neuronal convolucional de aprendizaje profundo para la clasificación de 22 clases distintas de cobertura y uso del suelo ubicadas en la cuenca río Atoyac-Salado. El modelo propuesto se entrenó utilizando datos digitales capturados en 2021 por el satélite Sentinel 2; se aplicó una combinación diferente de hiperparámetros, en la cual la precisión del modelo depende del optimizador, la función de activación, el tamaño del filtro, la tasa de aprendizaje y el tamaño del lote. Los resultados proporcionaron una precisión de 84.57 % para el conjunto de datos. Para reducir el sobreajuste se empleó el método de regularización denominado dropout, que resultó ser muy eficaz. Se comprobó con suficiente precisión que el aprendizaje profundo con redes neuronales convolucionales identifica patrones en los datos de la reflectancia captada por las imágenes del satélite Sentinel 2 para la clasificación el uso de suelo y vegetación en áreas con una dificultad intrínseca en la cuenca del río Atoyac-Salado
La calidad del forraje se determina mediante un análisis bromatológico, el cual mide variables como: peso seco (PS), proteína bruta (PB), fibra detergente ácido (FDA), fibra detergente neutro (FDN) y cenizas. La calidad es importante, ya que interviene en aspectos relacionados con la nutrición animal y su productividad; y en efectos ambientales como la generación de metano (CH4). Este estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar el efecto del agua potable y dos soluciones nutritivas, con diferente relación nitrato/amonio (NO3-/NH3+); en el peso fresco (PF) y la calidad bromatológica del forraje verde hidropónico (FVH) de avena (Avena sativa) y cebada (Hordeum vulgare), muestreado a los 5, 10 15, 20, 25 y 30 días después de la siembra. Se midieron las variables PF, PS, PB, FDN, FDA y cenizas. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizó un modelo factorial 3×2 (tres soluciones nutritivas y dos especies de semilla) con medidas repetidas en el tiempo; y la comparación de medias de Tukey (P ≤ 0.05). De acuerdo con el análisis de varianza (P ≤ 0.05), se observó que: i) el tiempo tuvo un efecto significativo en todas las variables estudiadas; ii) las soluciones nutritivas solo afectaron a la PB, y iii) la especie utilizada tuvo efecto en la PB, FDN, FDA y cenizas. Acorde con la comparación de medias se observó que: i) existió un incremento en el valor de todas las variables conforme avanzó el tiempo de muestreo; ii) el porcentaje de PB fue mayor con las soluciones nutritivas que con el agua potable, pero no se observó diferencia entre las soluciones; y iii) el FVH de avena tuvo mayores valores de PB, FDN, FDA y cenizas; por lo cual se concluyó que dicho FVH posee mejores características nutritivas para el ganado que el FVH de cebada.
