MAIZE HYBRIDS INOCULATED WITH Azospirillum brasilense UNDER DIFFERENT DOSES OF NITROGENABSTRACT -Microorganisms of the genus Azospirillum have the potential to improve the development and production of maize. However, the response of corn hybrids is not equal under inoculation with these microorganisms due to the specificity in the interaction between genotype and microorganism and the use of different managements. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the development and productivity of ten hybrids to indicate the most responsive when subjected to inoculation with Azospirillum brasilense and different doses of nitrogen fertilization.Several agronomic characters were evaluate as plant height, ear insertion height, stem diameter, total chlorophyll content, ear size, number of rows grains per ear, number of grains per row, mass of 100 grains and grain yield.
Campomanesia adamantium is a native plant species of Brazilian Cerrado with diverse economic potential and great medicinal importance. Its sexual propagation is impaired by the recalcitrance of its seeds, which prevents effective and profitable propagation. With the purpose of establishing commercial crops and minimizing the extractive use of vegetal resources, the aim of the present study was to induce embryogenic calli in nodal segments of gabirobeira, and to determine and characterize their embryogenic phase through the establishment of a growth curve based on cellular characteristics. Calli were induced using nodal segments inoculated in WPM culture medium without the addition of hormones (control) and with different concentrations of 2,4-D, IAA, IBA, NAA or picloram. Cytochemical and SEM analyses revealed cellular characteristics of the formation of meristematic centers that indicated 4.14 μM of picloram to be the best treatment for induction of embryogenic calli, and demonstrating their embryogenic potential. The treatment was used to establish a callus growth curve, from which it was inferred that calli should be transferred to new culture media on the 28th day to maintain cell viability
The adjustment of nitrogen fertilization is essential to promoting dry matter production together with a high concentration of crude protein in Jiggs Bermuda grass under a continuous cuts. The aim of this study was to quantify dry matter and crude protein production in Jiggs Bermuda grass, a cultivar of the genus Cynodon, associated with nitrogen fertilisation. The experimental design was randomised blocks with four replications, where treatments consisted in five doses of nitrogen (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg ha-1 cut-1) as urea, first applied during seedlings settlement, and second between 5 to 15 days after each harvest. For three years, in the flowering stage of the plants, 0.50 m 2 area per plot was collected, totaling 18 collections for the determination of the dry mass, after oven drying at 65 °C until constant weight, and after grinding, the concentration and the crude protein content were quantified. Data were analyzed by variance, adjusting the regressions in function of the levels of nitrogen applied. There was a significant response to the nitrogen dosesin dry matter production and crude protein content. The maximum potential for crude protein content was 158.5 kg nitrogen ha-1 (477.7 kg ha-1 of crude protein content), applied per harvest during the autumn/winter period, and 171.2 kg ha-1 (753.1 kg ha-1 of crude protein content) in the spring/summer, with respective increases of 49.7 and 78.9% regarding to the treatment without nitrogen fertilisation.
