The use of smart watches represents an advantage in home monitoring of ambulatory patient blood pressure; but it is necessary to know the degree of correspondence with the conventional equipment for a better control of the blood pressure that is of clinical utility, in the present study the correlation of the values of the blood pressure obtained by a digital baumanometer and by a watch was evaluated. intelligent in young males at rest and after exercise; the results obtained show a good correlation between the measurements obtained by both teams (R2 values greater than 0.7), the cautious use of smart watches is useful for better monitoring of blood pressure and presents advantages such as automatic and digital recording of the values that can be used for ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.
The common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L) is an important food in Mexico that provides both macronutrients and bioactive substances that are beneficial for the health of its consumers, in particular it provides polyphenolic compounds such as anthocyanins that make it a functional food; the objective of the present work was to evaluate the content of polyphenols and their ferric iron reducing activity of beans grown in the Municipality of Hopelchen, Campeche (Mexico) to characterize their agronomic and alimentary value. The morphometric parameters of length, width, thickness, weight and volume were measured; An aqueous maceration of the bean seeds was carried out in an acid medium (0.1 M HCl) and the content of polyphenols (Folin Ciocalteu Method), anthocyanins (visible spectrophotometry) and determination of the Reducing Iron Power (FRAP, by the method of TPTZ) of the aqueous extracts. It was found that the concentration of anthocyanins correlates with the total content of polyphenols and with the reducing activity of the ferric ion, the aqueous extracts obtained had a content of total phenols of 413 mg EAG/100g of seed, of anthocyanins of 42 mg MGE/100 g of seed and an iron reducing power of 10.26 mol of Fe2+/g of seed. The morphometric characteristics and the polyphenol content of the Hopelchén bean demonstrate that the harvested grain is of good quality and corresponds to the expected values for this food.
Objective: To evaluate the lipid-lowering activity of an aqueous extract obtained from the seeds of Phaseolus vulgaris in male mice using the hyperlipidemia induction model with Triton X-100. Methods: the chemical quality of the extract obtained was characterized by quantifying the total polyphenols (Folin Ciocalteu method) and total anthocyanins (colorimetric method) as well as their antioxidant activity by their ferric ion reducing capacity (FRAP, TPTZ method). Results: The data obtained show that the aqueous extract contains a large amount of total polyphenols (415 mg EAG / 100g of seed) and total anthocyanins (43EMG / 100 g of seed) and significant antioxidant activity (11.080.83 of Fex / g of seed). Administration of the aqueous extract to hyperlipidemic mice improved their lipid profile, especially by reducing the serum value of total cholesterol (144 mg/dL) and triglycerides (147 mg/dL) and increasing HDL values (67 mg/dL) in the group that received a dose of 300 mg of extract / kg of weight. Conclusion: These results show that the aqueous extract of P. vulgaris exerts an antioxidant activity in vitro and a lipid-lowering effect in mice.
The covid-19 pandemic forced education to seek new ways of teaching and learning In particular, due to the fact that experimental sciences such as chemistry require training in the laboratory and that attendance at these training spaces was interrupted by social isolation, the need arose to investigate new ways of acquiring procedural skills. The objective of this work was to estimate the usefulness of a didactic material, a computerized practice, in the academic achievement of students through the analysis of the experimental performance obtained before and during the use of the computerized practice. It was observed that the students who had the didactic material at their disposal improved their performance, measured by the Hake index. For this reason, it is estimated that computerized practice is useful to improve academic performance in the practice laboratory.
