Enterobactérias com fator infeccioso de resistência a drogas, foram isoladas em fezes de 113 crianças internadas no Instituto de Puericultura da U.F.R.J e no Hospital Jesus nos períodos 1960-1964 e 1970-1973, verificando-se que 71,6% das crianças excretaram bactérias resistentes, das quais 41,3% a uma única droga e 58,7% a várias drogas.

Estudando a incidência de fatores infecciosos de resistência, em amostras de Salmonella, foi verificado apresentarem as amostras de S. typhi uma fraca habilidade receptora inicial a esses fatores.

Com a finalidade de verificar se a ocorrência de Salmonelas isoladas de animais, com resistência múltipla infecciosa a drogas, influencia a situação epidemiológica no homem, testaram-se 136 amostras deLimita-se o presente trabalho a avaliar a resistência m últipla infecciosa a drogas em Salmonella, enterobactérias de signifi cação específica para animais.Fizemos um levantamento com a fina lidade de confirmar a existência de fatores R em Salmonella isoladas de suínos e, con seqüentemente, determ inar até que ponto a ocorrência dessas amostras resistentes, nestes animais, e em meio ambiente, po derá influir no tocante às condições epidemiológicas no homem.A constatação de resistência a drogas em Salmonella, verdadeiramente uma real am eaça à saúde hum ana, tem sido descrita com os realces dos perigos advindos da existência desses microrganismos no ali mento humano, porém a presença de fa tores R nessas amostras poderá, sem dúvi da, constituir-se num problema imprevisí vel para a Saúde Pública.Muitas das recentes descrições científi cas sobre o uso de antibióticos, nas rações alimentares de animais, resultam da des coberta da transferência epissomática a drogas, daí ser grande a preocupação quanto ao consumo de carne proveniente de animais alimentados à base de antibió ticos, tendo em vista a possibilidade de que certas bactérias, que se encontram no conduto intestinal, possam desenvolver re sistência aos antibióticos ministrados.Nos Estados Unidos, nenhum problema de saúde pública parece atribuível ao uso de antibióticos em animais na década an terior e posterior à descoberta desse tipo de resistência. Na Grã-Bretanha, entre tanto, houve certo alarma, por volta de 1965, causado por um surto de toxinfecção provocado por Salmonella typhimurium resistente, provindo de gado, supondo-se que a disseminação de tais germens seja devida às más condições sanitárias alia das a uma grande dispersão dos ani mais infectados. Alimentos contendo an tibióticos não foram assinalados.
Esferoplastos foram obtidos em Proteus vulgaris, cultivado em meio sintético simples, tendo como agente indutor a penicilina, em diferentes concentrações. Estabelecida a dosagem ótima, de sensibilidade da bactéria ao antibiótico, para obtenção de "grandes corpos" do Ciclo "L", definidos, morfologicamente, como esferoplastos, foi feita a coloração de massas nucleares, em diversas fases do crescimento bacteriano. A colheita do material foi feita por impessão em lamínula, usando-se ácido ósmico como fixador, seguindo-se hidrólise clorídrica, com aquecimento, e coloração pela fucsina. Dos resultados conseguidos ficou evidenciado: 1º - a posssibilidade de obtenção de "grandes corpos" em Proteus vulgaris em um meio sintético simples, a base de sais minerais e glicose; 2º - que houve uma concentração ótima de penicilina para surgir o efeito indutor de esferoplasto, na fase logarítmica de crescimento; 3º - a facilidade de coloração de massas nucleares nos esferoplastos em vários períodos de crescimento; 4º - a reversão ao tipo morfológico normal, depois de 24 horas de crescimento no meio com o antibiótico; 5º - modificação no crescimento do Proteus vulgaris em superfície de agar, com dose mínima de penicilina formando colônias localizadas.
Um mutante espontâneo de Bacillus licheniformis, derivado da amostra esporogênica 2390, foi estudado com vistas ao reconhecimento do estágio da evolução para esporo em que o mesmo se encontrava bloqueado. Eletronmicrografias sugeriram que as células desse mutante, colhidas durante a fase estacionária da curva de crescimento, não ultrapassaram o estágio I da esporogênese (i.e., permaneceram com o nucleóide disposto como filamento axial), enquanto a produção de antibiótico (bacitracina) e a atividade proteolítica foram francamente detectadas. A linhagem mutante, designada Spolp-72, nas condições experimentais empregadas não biossintetizou esporos por estarvação em solução de sais inorgãnicos, mas evidenciou uma frequência de esporulação menor que 10*-7, após crescimento vegetativo em meio de cultura favorável á esporogênese. A amostra Spolp-72 externa um crescimento vegetativo inicial restringido, quando comparada com a amostra 2390, enquanto que, inversamente, sua atividade respiratória é significativamente mais elevada. Este último comportamento foi confirmado no presente trabalho, contrastando, nesse particular, com outros tipos de mutantes de esporulação já descritos, os quais se encontram bloqueados nos primeiros estágios da via esporogenética.
