Surpreendeu-nos, trazendo consigo inúmeros impactos na vida das pessoas. Isso tudo causou mudanças não apenas nas questões emocionais e afetivas como, por exemplo, na forma das pessoas se relacionarem, mas também, a respeito da saúde de forma geral, ou seja, psicológica e/ou física. Além do aspecto social e de saúde, a pandemia de COVID-19 provocou também consequências no âmbito político-econômico de diversos países.Com isso, selecionamos trabalhos que abordam o tema, mostrando os impactos em diversas áreas, tais como na epidemiologia, na saúde pública e do trabalhador, nas ciências farmacêuticas, medicina, nutrição, economia e sociedade, odontologia e alguns trabalhos também relacionados à educação em saúde.Em nossos livros selecionamos um dos capítulos para premiação como forma de incentivo para os autores, e entre os excelentes trabalhos selecionados para compor este livro, o premiado foi o capítulo 16, intitulado "Relação do desenvolvimento de delirium em pacientes com COVID-19 hospitalizados em unidade de terapia intensiva".

Prezados leitores, esta obra traz uma abordagem teórica sobre a assistência de enfermagem com foco no manejo da dor de pacientes em cuidados paliativos. Nesse cenário, a equipe de enfermagem desempenha um papel crucial nos cuidados paliativos, fornecendo assistência e suporte abrangente aos pacientes que enfrentam doenças graves e progressivas. Logo, os cuidados paliativos têm como objetivo principal melhorar a qualidade de vida dos pacientes e seus familiares, proporcionando alívio dos sintomas, apoio emocional, tratamento da dor e gerenciamento de problemas físicos, psicossociais e espirituais. É importante destacar que a enfermagem em cuidados paliativos trabalha em equipe, em colaboração com outros profissionais de saúde, para fornecer uma abordagem abrangente e multidisciplinar ao cuidado dos pacientes. O trabalho da enfermagem é fundamental para promover o conforto, a amplitude e a qualidade de vida dos pacientes em cuidados paliativos.
Prezados leitores, esta obra apresenta evidências sobre os direitos fundamentais sobre o Transtorno do Espectro Autista, uma condição neurológica que afeta o desenvolvimento do cérebro, afetando principalmente a comunicação social, a interação social e o comportamento. É uma condição que se manifesta de maneira variada em diferentes pessoas, e é considerada um espectro porque engloba uma ampla gama de sintomas e níveis de gravidade. As características do TEA podem variar, significativamente, entre os indivíduos. Alguns dos sintomas comuns incluem dificuldades na comunicação verbal e não verbal, dificuldade em estabelecer e manter relacionamentos sociais, padrões repetitivos de comportamento, interesses restritos e intensos, sensibilidade sensorial e dificuldades na compreensão de pistas sociais e emoções. Seu diagnóstico é baseado em uma avaliação abrangente das habilidades sociais, comunicativas e comportamentais da pessoa. Geralmente, o diagnóstico é feito por uma equipe multidisciplinar, que pode incluir psicólogos, médicos, terapeutas ocupacionais e fonoaudiólogos, entre outros profissionais. Embora não haja cura para o TEA, intervenções e terapias podem ajudar a melhorar a qualidade de vida das pessoas com autismo. Alguns tratamentos comuns incluem terapia comportamental, terapia ocupacional, fonoaudiologia e educação especializada. O apoio e a compreensão da família, amigos, pais e da comunidade também desempenham um papel crucial no suporte às pessoas com TEA. É importante ressaltar que cada pessoa com TEA é única, e suas necessidades e habilidades variam. O objetivo principal é fornecer o suporte necessário para ajudar as pessoas com TEA a desenvolver todo o seu potencial e viver uma vida plena e inclusiva.
