El legislador de la Unión Europea tiende a proteger al trabajador como parte más débil de la relación jurídica a través de criterios de conexión especiales previstos en el Reglamento Roma I, más favorables a los intereses del trabajador que los criterios de conexión generales propios de los contratos internacionales distintos de los contratos individuales de trabajo. El presente trabajo estudia en qué supuestos los criterios de conexión especiales que el Reglamento Roma I contempla en el ámbito de la ley aplicable al contrato de trabajo, que presenta un carácter internacional, garantizan al trabajador desplazado un mínimo nivel de protección y respetan los principios de proximidad y de seguridad jurídica internacional.
