Trichoderma sp. es un género de hongo que está siendo utilizado ampliamente como una alternativa sostenible para el control de enfermedades de plantas y promotor de crecimiento en cultivos de importancia agrícola. Tiene una gran diversidad genética, por lo que el presente estudio pretende identificar y describir morfológica y molecularmente especies provenientes de diferentes fuentes tan diversas como suelo agrícola, tomate triturado, cultivo de plátano, pastos entre otros. En el estudio se encontró 17 aislados de hongos con características en sus colonias similares a Trichoderma spp., los cuales después de observar sus características morfológicas se identificaron presuntivamente como pertenecientes a este género. La caracterización de su conidióforo, fiálides y conidias, demostró que dichos aislados correspondían al género Trichoderma spp. Posteriormente se demostró que los 17 aislados pertenecían al género Trichoderma sp mediante secuenciación, utilizando los cebadores ITS1 (5 TCC GTA GGT GAA CCT GCG G 3) ADNr, encontrándose 7 especies diferentes del hongo en el estudio, las cuales fueron: T. harzianum, T. viride, T. asperellum, T. asperelloide, T. songyi, T. virens y T. breve. De estas especies T. asperellum y T. harzianum, son de vital importancia por ser previamente identificadas como efectivos agentes de control biológico de enfermedades y promotores de crecimiento de plantas y se abre una nueva puerta de investigación con T. breve y T. songyi, ya que muy poco se conoce sobre la aplicación biotecnológica de éstas.
Debido a la necesidad de producir alimentos sanos y de calidad, los sistemas agroproductivos actuales están incursionando en el uso de métodos sostenibles e inocuos para el control de plagas y mejora de la nutrición vegetal. Entre estas opciones ha sido estudiado Trichoderma spp., como promotor de crecimiento vegetal, sin embargo, en Nicaragua existen pocos estudios sobre este tema. El presente estudio pretende identificar y cuantificar el potencial de aislados nativos de Trichoderma spp., como promotores de crecimiento y peso en el tomate. La solución de Trichoderma sp. utilizada se obtuvo de una solución madre diluida a una concentración de 108 conidias /ml, utilizando 1 ml de dicha solución en el sustrato de siembra. Los tratamientos evaluados fueron T1: T. harzianum; T12: T. asperelloide; T11c: T. viride; T8: T. songyi; F2TG-11: T. breve; T3: T. asperellum; CIXD-07: T. virens. Al tratamiento testigo (sin inocular) sólo se le agregó 1 mL de agua destilada estéril. Todas las bandejas se mantuvieron en oscuridad a 28±2°C. Las variables a medir fueron altura, peso, longitud de las raíces de las plántulas, realizándose la medición a los 25 días después de la emergencia. Los resultados muestran que, al compararse con el testigo, los aislados de T. harzianum y T. viride presentaron el mayor potencial promotor de crecimiento obteniéndose una ganancia de 38.8% y 22.6% en altura, 72% y 46.3% en peso y 70% y 36.3% en longitud de raíces respectivamente.
El género Trichoderma spp representa un grupo de organismos muy importante en la agricultura moderna debido a que inhiben el crecimiento de hongos fitopatógenos. Sin embargo, se ha publicado que su comportamiento ecológico varía dependiendo de la región geográfica de donde proviene. En este estudio, se evaluó la capacidad de 17 aislados de Trichoderma spp nativos, para inhibir el crecimiento In vitro de tres aislados de Fusarium spp. Para el aislamiento de los hongos se utilizó la técnica de dilución seriada y el medio de crecimiento Papa Dextrosa Agar (PDA), posteriormente se evaluó el antagonismo contra tres aislados de Fusarium spp, mediante la técnica de cultivo dual. Los tres aislados de Fusarium spp se identificaron molecularmente perteneciendo a dos aislados F. equiseti y uno identificado como Fusarium spp. Se determinó el porcentaje de Inhibición del Crecimiento Radial (PICR), obteniéndose los siguientes resultados T. harzianum, T. asperellum y T. virens presentaron los porcentajes de PICR con 81.57%, 79.62% y 78.62% respectivamente, superando al resto de aislados. Los aislados T. harzianum, T. asperellum y T. virens, deben ser evaluados en condiciones de invernadero y campo para definir efectividad, establecer una aplicabilidad.
