Análise das limitações, estratégias e perspectivas dos trabalhadores com LER/DORT, participantes do grupo PROFIT-LER: um estudo de casoAnalysis of the limitations, strategies and perspectives of the workers with RSI/WRMD, participants of the PROFIT-LER Group: a case study
Background: The heavy and complex work routine in the intensive care unit (ICU) involves high workload, long working hours, high levels of tension, exposure to extreme situations and to hazards of different nature. Objective: To investigate the influence of sociodemographic and organizational factors on the development of musculoskeletal pain, tension and fatigue among ICU professionals. Methods: We interviewed 128 professionals from seven public hospitals in João Pessoa, Paraiba, Brazil. The data were analyzed using a logistic regression model, and differences between professional categories by means of the likelihood ratio, the Wald and χ 2 tests, with significance level set to <0.05. Results: The risk to develop musculoskeletal symptoms differed as a function of the participants' professional category. The odds of nursing technicians to simultaneously develop musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and tension were 4.968 times higher (p=0.023) compared to physicians, nurses and physical therapists. This difference was mediated by factors such as sex, body mass index and number of ICU jobs. Nursing technicians were the most exposed group, and thus they require more attention as concerns workplace health interventions. Conclusions: The participants had long working hours, and differed in regard to the most frequent musculoskeletal complaints as a function of the specificities inherent to the activities of each professional category. Keywords | occupational health; occupational hazards; intensive care units.
There is much evidence to show postural flaws occurring in violin players during performance. The general objective of this study was to observe violinists during performance for the appearance of postural flaws and the frequency with which these flaws occurred. For this work, 20-minute video recordings were made of four student violinists from an orchestra; the violinists were recorded from a frontal viewpoint, and also anatomic markers were placed on them in order to separately analyze some of the arm and head movements through a computer program. After recording, we captured images in order to categorize some postures, verifying how often these flaws appeared from different points of view. We conclude that all violinists presented postural flaws which could be avoided because they are not part of the normal instrumental techniques.
The objective present study was to investigate the presence of low back pain in caregivers of a nursing home, related with the labored activities executed by these workers. 16 subjects were investigated, 15 female and one male, with 40,8 age average all being caregivers as their profession. It consisted of three phases, where the first concerns the analysis of the collective work, assessed in a perspective of caregivers, Second, a postural assessment to verify the retractions in such workers and the third stage was used Diagram of Corllet to identify the presence of signs and symptoms in caregivers. The study demonstrated that organizational and biomechanical factors are responsible for the high level of physical fatigue and presence of pain in 93,75% of the caregivers in some region of the body. 50% referred pain in the lumbar region. The results of the postural evaluation confirmed that the caregivers had alterations in the postural alignment, presenting retractions of the anterior and posterior chain. The suggestions are to minimize the risk factors of this productive process and the symptoms and signals presented from these workers by adoption ergonomic measures and the realization of a physical program with stretching and muscular strengthening of the muscles of thee anterior and posterior body chain based on the method of Reorganization Postural Sensoperceptive .
This work proposes to show the experience of posture training accomplished in the Paraíba State Telecommunication Company, using the knowledge of the Back School. The sample was composed of 12 operators, employees of the company, representing 31% of this population. The model applied in TELPA (Paraíba Telecommunication Company, Brazil) was based on the models of Sherbrooke, Canada, and of the School of Posture of Paraíba Federal University.Fifty-eight point four percent of participants showed a reduction of column pain, 25% improved the quality of the rest and the received training was considered enough for the learning of correct postures at work in 75% of the cases. The whole population approved of the training, and 83.3% of the cases considered that this training influenced their lives very positively. school of posture training methodology telecommunication workers
