O seguinte artigo analisou A Teoria da Hierarquia das Necessidades de Abraham Maslow (1943) e a Teoria dos Dois Fatores de Frederick Herzberg (1959) na visão de discentes do oitavo semestre do curso de Administração de Empresas da Faculdade Católica Rainha do Sertão, que trabalham em empresas localizadas no Sertão Central. O objetivo do trabalho foi analisar se essas teorias são vistas como ferramentas que auxiliam no entendimento dos fatores motivacionais interno no desempenho profissional. Para fundamentação teórica foram utilizadas as respectivas Teorias. Quanto à metodologia optou-se pelo método qualitativo com aplicação de entrevistas abertas, os dados foram analisados por meio da Análise de Conteúdo baseado em cinco perguntas relacionadas às teorias citadas. O resultado obtido identificou que as teorias mencionadas servem de direção, na visão dos discentes, para o entendimento dos fatores motivacionais, assim como o ponto de vista dos mesmos em relação ao salário e crescimento como elementos da Teoria dos Dois Fatores. No quesito salário as opiniões ficaram divididas ao defini-lo como fator motivacional, satisfatório ou ambos. Em relação ao crescimento proporcionado pelas empresas em que eles atuam, observou-se que a maioria oferece meios para que funcionários cresçam na organização e, nota-se que as empresas por não proporcionarem expectativa de crescimento aparentemente podem perder funcionários qualificados. Por fim, conclui-se que essas Teorias motivacionais servem de orientação para os gestores proporcionarem meios de motivar seus funcionários em prol do alcance do objetivo organizacional.
