Discrimination affects the lives of many Roma women in different areas of their lives. Issues such as unequal access to the labor market for women and men, domestic violence, stereotypical expectations of the roles of women in society, other expectations in education for women and men are deepening in the context of discrimination and ethnicity expectations. Roma women in the Czech Republic are among the groups most at risk of unemployment. However, repeated failures to find a job reduce their self-esteem and, unfortunately, predetermine their future use in the family circle and in the natural community where they are more or less the role of careers. Relationships in the Roma community are much stronger than usual in Czech society. Many Roma women have a subordinate position towards husband and other male family members. Roma families often do not allow a woman to study, according to her usual practice; she should take care of her family and children. The current need is to listen to the voice of Romani women who strive for full participation in the Czech society and to act in this sense also on the attitudes of their surroundings.
Allergies to a certain food are most likely to occur in children under six years of age; however, they can develop later, even into adulthood. Ironically, the most common allergens in older children and adults are the foods that we consider to be healthy or even necessary, such as nuts, cheese, fish, poppy seeds, or aromatic fruit and vegetables [1]. A food allergy is an oversensitive reaction by the organism to a food or foods, where the body may exhibit one or more symptoms from a relatively wide range of symptoms. It affects 2-3% of people, and in infants and children up to three years of age it affects upwards of 5-8% (with some sources saying more than 10%). Food allergies cause an adverse reaction to a food and involve a conditional response by the immune system. This definition is important because there is also the possibility of adverse reactions to foods that may be caused by something other than the immune system (e.g., lactose intolerance or irritation when digesting certain foods, such as coffee or ripened cheeses). An allergy is a hypersensitive reaction of the immune system to common substances, allergens, to which it often comes into contact. School canteens should strive to offer a varied and balanced diet, especially to our children, so that they get everything necessary to support their successful development and overall health. The composition of the menus should include the recommended amounts set to fulfill the daily requirement of essential nutrients. Activities of school canteens in the Czech Republic are governed by Act no. 561/2004 Coll., on preschool, primary, secondary, vocational and other training, in particular the provisions of § 119, section 11, with the relevant implementing rules and regulations [3].
According to qualified estimates by sociologists, the Czech national census and governmental bodies in the EU, as many as 350,000 ethnic Roma people live in the Czech Republic. Yet, only a fraction of the Roma population has received higher education and are achieving careers within and not alongside the majority society. Some believe that a more inclusive and integrative approach in education will facilitate long-term community work and better removal of prejudices. This represents quite a force that could appreciably affect the political landscape. Unfortunately, we run into the disunity of the Roma people among themselves, which brings more challenges to the forefront rather than solutions to the current status quo. This should change in the future. The current government concept for this purpose supports the development of Roma culture and education. This overview study should bring more arguments to the table regarding the need for Czech Romani/Roma intervention in education and social affairs. This overview article gives an insight into current Czech Roma/Romani education and social service-related issues.
This paper reflects the results of a survey, conducted on a sample of approximately 100 employees of leading Czech hotels and international hotel chains in 2013. The inquiry was to analyze the role of ethics and code of ethics in the cultural policy of the hotel chains and tourism. Presented probe socio-cultural concerns in particular ethics of interpersonal relationships between workers of different nationalities, especially the Czech and foreign management staff, and then marginally etiquette rules as their reflection and individual expression. Author does not deny the fact that the rules of etiquette in the tourism and gastronomy, and that gradually changes between countries and cultures are significant differences that must be respected. But presents for discussion and reflection about their findings, as generally valid ethical principles and their instantiations in the rules adopted a code of ethics and respect in everyday practice hotel and hotel chain.
