A proposta de educar para as relações étnicas-raciais no Brasil aconteceu a partir da resolução da Lei 10.639/03 destinada à educação básica e buscou promover o reconhecimento e a valorização dos diversos grupos e etnias que fazem parte do país. De lá para cá uma série de medidas foram tomadas para dar efetividade ao debate das relações étnico-raciais e verificou-se, aqui ou ali, uma variedade de projetos e livros destinados, na maioria das vezes, à educação superior. No entanto, o mesmo não se verificou com relação à educação básica, sobretudo a educação infantil. Em face disso, o Ministério da Educação (MEC) em parceria com a Organização das Nações Unidas para a Educação, a Ciência e a Cultura (UNESCO) elaborou, em 2014, uma obra voltada exclusivamente para a educação infantil: A História e cultura africana e afro-brasileira na educação infantil (HACABEI). Tal projeto procurou trabalhar as relações étnico-raciais e a cultura africana e afro-brasileira no âmbito da educação infantil. Sendo assim, por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, o presente artigo problematiza o respectivo documento e traça algumas tendências do ensino das relações étnico-raciais na educação básica.
