A agricultura brasileira, ao adotar modernas tecnologias de produção em busca do aumento de produtividade, vem trazendo impactos negativos ao meio ambiente, à sociedade e ao próprio produtor rural. Diante desse contexto, o objetivo deste trabalho foi reunir informações a respeito da produção de soja orgânica na região Oeste do Paraná, identificando os desafios a serem superados pelo setor e se esses podem se tornar barreiras que impeçam, principalmente, aos pequenos produtores de soja, o investimento nesse cultivo como forma de agregar valor à produção e garantir assim melhores resultados financeiros, ambientais e sociais em sua propriedade rural. Quanto à classificação do presente estudo, o mesmo foi de ordem prática, abordado de forma qualitativa, com objetivo exploratório e por meio do procedimento técnico estudo de caso. O instrumento de coleta de dados utilizado foi a entrevista. Os resultados indicam a inviabilidade de produção da soja orgânica na região Oeste do Paraná, determinada principalmente por três fatores: a falta de pesquisas voltadas para atividade, as dificuldades no manejo da produção e a baixa demanda da população brasileira por produtos orgânicos.
