-006Influence of 5d-Metal on Magnetic Properties of UNi 1−x MxAl Compounds.-UNiAl does not form contineous solid solution with either UPtAl or UIrAl. The solubility range extends only to 20% from each side in both systems. UNi 1−x MxAl (M: Ir, Pt) alloys in the intermediate range 0.2 ¡ x ¡ 0.8 are mixtures of two isostructural phases corresponding roughly to UNi 0.8 M 0.2 Al and UNi 0.2 M 0.8 Al. The compounds with x ≤ 0.2 show metamagnetic behavior and those with x ≥ 0.8 are ferromagnets. The initial substitution by Pt and Ir leads to an increase in the Neel temp. with increasing Pt content and a decrease of T N with Ir content, which is attributed to enhancement and supression of antiferromagnetic exchange interactions, respectively. The obtained results are discussed in the context of the effects induced by the substitution of Ni in UNiAl by other transition metals considering the evolution of the 5f-d hybridization. -(ANDREEV, A. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
