This paper proposes a concept of Fuzzy based Active Power Filter for mitigating current harmonics in interconnected PV-Grid system. The PV array is connected to the utility grid by using a boost converter and a voltage source converter. For this, a three phase three wire system operated by non-linear load is considered. The increased harmonic content leads to increase in losses, decrease in power factor and many adverse effects. A Fuzzy based instantaneous PQ theory control technique is proposed in this paper for better harmonic compensation. This proposed system is tested and verified using Matlab/Simulink. The results obtained in both PI and fuzzy based APF systems are compared in the aspects of THD and active power.
Due to the increased penetration of distributed generators into the distribution system as well as due to various power electronic devices in the power network, there exists strong disturbances in electrical waveforms i.e., in amplitude ,phase and frequency. These fluctuations need to be supervised and monitored for efficient energy management, safety and also protection purposes. Nowadays, this task is performed by Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs), which measure the phasor of voltage and current waveforms on a common timescale synchronized to the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) are also expected to quickly measure fundamental frequencies and rate of change of such frequencies (ROCOF) by accurate parameter estimation algorithms. In this paper the commonly used recursive DFT algorithm for phasor estimation in PMUs was simulated in MATLAB platform. Then this algorithm is tested with various power quality disturbance waveforms and its performance is investigated.
In Power systems there are different types of Protection relays and one of types is Overcurrent relays. Overcurrent relay protection could be designed in an easy and cost-effective way. That is the reason why the Overcurrent relays are mostly used in electrical motors, generators, power transformers, distribution system and transmission line system protections etc. When the fault current occurs in a power system or in an any electrical equipment crosses the predefined or threshold value, it generates a trip signal to the Electrical Circuit Breaker. This paper mainly concentrates on IDMT relay through the software model. In that model single-phase to ground, line to line and three phase faults are taken as the fault for examining the relay subsystem .
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
