Os medicamentos são uma importante fonte estratégica de ação em saúde, utilizados para tratamento, cura ou prevenção de inúmeras condições clínicas. A escolha de um medicamento pelos consumidores é vigorosamente influenciada por diversos fatores, que podem ser econômicos, culturais, sociais, pessoais ou psicológicos. Desde a implementação dos medicamentos genéricos, até os dias atuais, ainda há dúvidas por parte dos usuários, que julgam a qualidade do produto, isso ocorre devido a pouca informação disponível, falta de conhecimento e incentivo. Com o avanço da tecnologia, o conhecimento sobre o genérico está cada vez maior, fazendo os usuários tenham uma confiabilidade e passando a comprar mais esse medicamento, sem contar o papel que o farmacêutico vem fazendo, orientando os usuários quanto à qualidade e eficácia dos mesmos e promovendo o uso racional de medicamentos. Ações e participação do profissional farmacêutico são de extrema relevância para a sociedade, sendo este profissional responsável por orientar, sanar dúvidas e garantir a segurança e uso racional dos medicamentos. Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o conhecimento e aceitação sobre medicamentos genéricos por meio de uma revisão bibliográfica. O uso de nomes genéricos facilita a prescrição e dispensação de medicamentos aos pacientes e a comunicação entre os profissionais de saúde. O presente trabalho tratou-se de revisão da literatura que teve como finalidade sintetizar resultados obtidos em pesquisas sobre um tema ou questão, de maneira sistemática, ordenada e abrangente. O ano de publicação será limitado entre os anos de 2017 a 2022.
