RESUMODentre os desafios de gestores públicos está a superação de problemas ambientais gerados pelo acelerado processo de urbanização. Uma das alternativas é a criação de áreas verdes e/ou expansão e manutenção das já existentes. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi levantar os equipamentos e estruturas presentes nas praças. O município estudado foi Nova Luzitânia, localizada no interior do Estado de São Paulo. Foram estudadas quatro: João Batista Moreira (Matriz), Praça do Esporte e Idoso, Praça da Bíblia e Praça da Liberdade. A coleta de dados foi separada em duas etapas, seguindo os modelos sugeridos por De Angelis et al. (2004), cujos autores tornaram-se referência para o levantamento de equipamentos e estrutura de praças no Brasil. As sondagens ocorreram de 25 a 30 de junho de 2014. Neste trabalho são apresentados resultados das fichas que avaliaram a quantidade e qualidade dos equipamentos presentes nas quatro praças. O ensaio iniciado nas praças de Nova Luzitânia-SP, colabora para os estudos a respeito de áreas verdes urbanas e para a conceituação sobre a presença desses locais em cidades de pequeno porte. Resta saber se os locais agradam os moradores e até que ponto pode influenciar no uso e conservação dos mesmos.
