The objective of this study is to discuss selected viruses including COVID-19 and their potential elimination processes in hot springs. Studies in Colombia are limited and this scientific discussion provides necessary information regarding these viruses. This includes studies both in Colombia and international levels on the following subjects: i) the presence of viruses in hot springs, ii) the non-oxidative water treatment in hot springs, iii) the elimination strategies of viruses; and iv) the influence of COVID-19 in hot springs. The results of this discussion indicate that in order for thermal waters to guarantee the elimination of the viruses originating from faecal and nonfaecal derived, and the COVID-19 virus, a monitoring scheme is required to identify an effective disinfection of waters to control these pathogens.
Based on the analysis of the parameters considered as more relevant for the evaluation of hand performances, a functionality index is proposed. The aim of this study is the definition of a functionality index that provides a quantitative measure of hand prosthesis functionality. A clinical analysis of the global efficiency of such prosthesis based on their characteristics has enabled us to determine some parameters from which prosthetic hands can be evaluated and compared. This quantitative evaluation could be a tool to learn about prosthesis and help on further designs.
This paper presents the integration of three-axis accelerometers sensors and the ZigBee networks for assess the gait cycle, in order to monitor a gait at any time and at anywhere, it through ambulatory a wearable gait monitoring system for application in a hospital network, or continuous monitoring in a patient's diary life. The biomechanical analysis proposal of gait was conducted in two stages: (1) Integration of network nodes and the accelerometers sensors, and the private profile design for multiple ZigBee devices over the wireless network and (2) Assembly of the experimental evaluation of normal gait with the ZigBee accelerometers devices over a normal human lower limb. Finally, this work presents the experimental results based on measurements of three-axis accelerations in the ankle, knee and hip with a biomechanical analysis of the stance and swing phase in the normal gait.Palabras claves-Análisis de la marcha, Redes ZigBee, Acelerómetros.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
