The paper presents data on the use of simple crown traps for studying the insect fauna. The crown trap is a five-litre plastic container with a window cut out on one side of it at a distance of 10 cm from the bottom. The height of the trap location is from 2 m to 10 m from the soil surface. Fermenting beer, various dry wines with the addition of honey, jam or sugar were used as bait. It turned out that crown traps are an effective way to study the insect fauna of the upper layers of forests. During the field seasons of 2018-2019, specimens of the following 12 insect orders were caught in crown traps: Blattoptera,
Republics. The first survey work on the fauna of Longicorns in Mordovia Republic was published by us . There were indicated 55 species from 37 genera, found in the region. At the same time, Ergates faber (Linnaeus, 1760), Anastrangalia dubia (Scopoli, 1763), Stictoleptura fulva (DeGeer, 1775) and Aromia moschata ambrosiaca (Steven, 1809) were excluded from the list, as their indication for the republic [Redikortsev, 1938;Plavilshchikov, 1964;Bondarenko, 1964;Mozolevskaya et al., 1971;Timraleev, 1999;Ruchin et al., 2007;Timraleev et al., 2007] were clearly unreliable. In subsequent years, ongoing research was carried out on the territory of Mordovia Reserve, Smolny National Park and their surroundings [
All 2,145 species of Coleoptera from 88 families known to occur in Mordovia State Nature Reserve, Russia, are listed, along with their author(s) and year of description using the most recent classification framework. Adventive species for European Russia are indicated. There are 31 adventive species in the reserve, comprising 1.44% of the total beetle fauna.
During field investigations in 2017, Clemmus troglodytes was found in the Mordovia State Nature Reserve (Republic of Mordovia, Russia). Earlier, C. troglodytes was collected in Yaroslavl City (Yaroslavl region, Russia). In this paper we are reporting for the first time both genus Clemmus and species C. troglodytes for the fauna of Russia. These records of the species in Russia extend remarkably its range to the north and east.
The paper presents data on a record of Allonyx quadrimaculatus (Schaller) in the Republic of Mordovia (Russia, Central European Territory) and also the whole known information about specimens of the species stored in Russian museums. We discuss the species' distribution which is considered as intermittent. Data on biology of Allonyx quadrimaculatus and description of its newly found habitat are presented.
Ruchin AB, Egorov LV, Semishin GB. 2018. Fauna of click beetles (Coleoptera: Elateridae) in the interfluve of Rivers Mokshaand Sura, Republic of Mordovia, Russia. Biodiversitas 19: 1352-1365. The results of the study of fauna of click beetles in the Republicof Mordovia are presented. By now, 58 species of click beetles have been recorded here. Adrastus pallens is a new record for therepublic. As per the literature information, 6 species of click beetles (Agriotes pilosellus, Melanotus crassicollis, Melanotus fusciceps,Liotrichus affinis, Pseudanostirus globicollis, Stenagostus rufus) are known and these indications require confirmation. Two species(Agriotes acuminatus, Limoniscus suturalis) are excluded from the fauna. Taking into account the literary information in the fauna ofMordovia, 64 species of Elateridae are known. Agrypnus murinus, Agriotes lineatus, Agriotes obscurus, Agriotes sputator, Dalopiusmarginatus, Ampedus balteatus, Ampedus pomorum, Hemicrepidius niger, Athous subfuscus, Prosternon tessellatum, Selatosomusaeneus are among the mass species. A list of the species is presented, which with a high degree of probability can still be found in therepublic
