____________________________________ ABSTRACT This paper analyzed the level of economic growth and their conditional convergence between the regions of southern Brazil, from 2003 to 2010. The methodological procedures were estimated level of economic growth indicators and regional disparities, as well as exploratory analysis spatial data (ESDA) and econometric estimates using a spatial panel. The survey results showed that at the end of 2010, the economic growth of the most depressed areas was higher than that of the most dynamic regions. This result indicated that the GDP of the southern regions converged due to investments in physical capital, human capital and other spatial aspects. Another important result of the data analysis came from the "spreading effect", so when a region grows, part of this economic growth also benefits the regions of their area, creating a virtuous cycle of regional economic growth.
