A acrilonitrila (ACN) é amplamente usada na produção de borrachas e resinas, mas também considerado um poluente perigoso nos gases de exaustão industrial. Esse trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar a atividade e seletividade de catalisadores comerciais de óxidos de cobre (CuO), níquel (NiO) e cério (CeO2), na reação de combustão catalítica seletiva de acrilonitrila (SCC-ACN). Esses catalisadores foram caracterizados por difratometria de raios X (DRX) e espectrofotometria no UV-VIS. Os resultados mostraram que CuO, NiO e CeO2 são materiais nanocristalinos que apresentam estruturas e transições de transferência de carga características de óxidos de cobre, níquel e cério, respectivamente. O tamanho médio dos cristalitos está no intervalo de 3,2 e 20,7 nm. O CeO2 foi mais ativo para a SSC-ACN em menor temperatura que CuO e NiO. CeO2 e CuO produziram maior quantidade de N2 e todos os catalisadores produziram NOx, porém, esses foram obtidos em menor quantidade sobre CeO2. Desse modo, conclui-se que CeO2 foi o catalisador mais ativo e de menor produção de NOx na SSC-ACN.
