Objetivo: Analisar a qualidade de vida dos pacientes com hipertensão arterial atendidos em um serviço público de saúde. Metodologia: estudo transversal analítico realizado com três unidades básicas de saúde na cidade de Teresina-Piauí. A população foi constituída por todos os pacientes com diagnóstico de hipertensão arterial, na qual obteve- se uma amostra de 322 pacientes. A coleta ocorreu nos meses de abril a junho de 2018, com o uso de três instrumentos, o Mini-Questionário de Qualidade de Vida em Hipertensão Arterial (Minichal), o World Health Organization Quality of Life-Bref (Whoqol-Bref) e um formulário socioeconômico. Resultados: Os dados mostraram que 62,4% eram mulheres, 48,1% com idade entre 40 a 59 anos, 53,7% com ensino fundamental incompleto. Observa-se que o fator de risco cardiovascular diabetes mellitus prevaleceu na amostra com 39,4%. Para o Minichal, o domínio estado mental apresentou melhor média e para o Whoqol-Bref o domínio psicológico obteve melhor média, indicando melhor qualidade de vida para estes domínios. Conclusão: Os achados deste estudo mostram que a amostra estudada apresentou índices altos de qualidade de vida para os dois instrumentos.Descritores: Qualidade de vida.
