Nachdem wir die cis, trans-isomeren Formen mehrerer a, p-ungesattigter Methylketone beschrieben haben4), teilen wir im folgenden unsere Reobachtungen an zwei weitern Modellsubstanzen mit, welche sich von den bisherigen Beispielen dadurch unterscheiden, dass bei ihnen die c(, 8-standige Doppelbindung noch mit einer solchen in y, 8-Lage in Konjugation steht. Wir untersuchten einen rein aliphatischen, geradkettigen Vertreter, das Dodecadien-( 3,5)-on-(2) und ausserdem einen solchen mit hgdroaromatischem Ring, das 4-4 l-Cyclohexenyl-buten-(3) -on-( 2 ) .

Synthese und Cyclisation von ,, Sesquilavandulol" von L. Colombi2) und H. Schinz. (14. 111. 52.) 101. Mitteilungl). Vor einigen Jahren beschrieben H . Schinx & P. H . NiiZZer3) die Synthese eines Cl,-Alkohols mit unregelmassiger Tri-isoprenkette, des ,,Lavandulols der Sesquiterpenreihe" (VII). Die Herstellung dieser Verbindung wurde damals nach dem Prinzip der ersten Synthese des Lavandulols von L. Ruxicka & A . RothZisberger4) ausgefiihrt. Da diese Synthese des Alkohols, den wir kurz mit dem Namen ,,Sesquilavandulol" bezeichnen wollen, nicht sehr befriedigend war, suchten wir die inzwischen gefundene neue Lavandulolsynthese von H . Schinx & G. 8chdippi5) auf das Sesquilavandulol zu iibertragen. Zweek dieser Arbeit war, zu priifen, ob sich die neue Methode auch in der C15-Reihe als leistungsfahig erweise. Ferner wollten wir versuchcn, ob sich das Sesquilavandulol Sihnlieh wie das Lavandulo16) cyclisieren lasse. Geranyl-acetessigester (I) ') wurde ins Athylenketal I1 verwandelt und dieses nach Bouveuult-BZanc zum Ketalalkohol I11 reduziert. Der freie Ketoalkohol IV, der aus I11 durch Umacetalisieren mit Aceton gewonnen wurde, lieferte bei der Umsetzung mit Methylmagnesiumjodid das Glykol V. Dieses wurde ins Diacetat iibergefiihrt und letzteres pyrolysiert. Das erhaltene Monoacetat ergab beim Verseifen das freie Sesquilavandulol (VII) ". Alle Stufen verliefen mit sehr guten Ausbeuten. Beim Arbeiten mit grossern Ansatzen wurde neben nur wenig Glykol V direkt das Endprodukt VII erhalten; V und VII liessen sich leicht durch Destillation trennen. Der auf diese Weise erhaltene rohe Alkohol VII war mit einer geringen Menge eines Ketons VI vermengt, das durch
