Fur die Barriere der gehinderten Rotation urn das Doppelbindungssystem des Butatriens 5 werden mittels 'H-NMR in Chlorbenzol als Losungsmittel AH&8 = 113.0 k 2kJmol-' und AS&8 = -32.0 6 kJmol-' und AS$,,, = -20 f 15 JK-'mol-'. Es werden Gibbs'sche Aktivierungsenergien ACT fur die Kumulene 5, 6, 8 und 9 in verschiedenen Losungsmitteln ermittelt und fur das Pentatetraen 7 eine untere Grenze der Racemisierungsbarriere von AGZ3' > 106 kJmol-' bestimmt. Die bisher gemessenen Rotations barrieren von Kumulenen werden rnit berechneten Werten verglichen. Die Rotationsbarrieren nehmen monoton ') und nicht alternierend ' ) rnit zunehmender Anzahl kumulierter Doppelbindungen ab. Losungsmittel-, Konzentrations-und Substituenteneffekte beeinflussen die Rotationsbarrieren nur unerheblich. Aus der Barriere des Hexapentaens 9 laljt sich die Resonanzenergie eines Pentadienyl-Radikals 12 zu 83.7 kJmol-' abschatzen, in guter Ubereinstimmung rnit experimentellen Ergebnissen anderer A~t o r e n~.~) .
