Resumo: O crambe possui diversas aplicações industriais e, por isso, sua presença no âmbito industrial está cada vez mais evidente. Para aproveitá-lo melhor, realiza-se a sua secagem, de modo a não comprometer a estabilidade e qualidade do produto final. Além da necessidade de se representar de forma adequada o processo de secagem, existe uma preocupação com o consumo energético do mesmo. Sendo assim, o estudo da eficiência energética pode auxiliar na escolha das melhores condições operacionais de forma a reduzir os gastos. Portanto, o objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar a otimização da eficiência energética do processo de secagem do crambe em um secador horizontal, representando-o por meio do modelo de dupla resistência à transferência de massa. As variáveis escolhidas para realizar a otimização foram a temperatura e velocidade do ar de secagem e o método de otimização empregado foi o CDOS. Foram modificadas as condições iniciais e os critérios de eficiência energética para avaliar o comportamento da mesma. As mesmas condições ótimas de secagem foram encontradas, as quais foram as menores temperatura e velocidade do ar de secagem, e, de maneira geral, ao aumentar as dimensões do leito e umidade inicial, a eficiência energética foi maior.
