Durch Umsetzung von Alkalipentafluorthiophenolat mit den entsprechenden Metallsalzen werden die Pentafluorphenylmercaptometallate [Me(SC6F5)4]2‐ (Me = CoII, PdII, PtII, ZnII, CdII, HgII) und [Me(SC6F5)2]− (Me = CuI, AgI, AuI) in Form ihrer Tetraäthylammonium‐oder Kaliumsalze erhalten. μ‐Pentafluorphenylmercapto‐Brücken treten in den Verbindungen [Ni(SC6F5)2]n, [Pd(SC6F5)2]n, [(C6H5)3PPd(SC6F5)2]2 und [Fe(CO)3SC6F5]2 auf. Die Komplexe werden durch Leitfähigkeits‐ und magnetische Messungen, sowie auf Grund ihrer IR‐ und 19F‐KMR‐Spektren charakterisiert. Aus WCI6 und Pentafluorphenol entsteht W(OC6F5)6.
Die Absorptionsspektren und Reflexionsspektren der Pentafluorphenylmercapto‐Komplexe [N(C2H5)4]2[Me(SC6F5)4] (mit Me = CoII, PdII, PtII, ZnII, CdII, HgII), [N(C2H5)4]‐[Me(SC6F5)2] (mit Me = CuI, AgI, AuI) sowie (C6H5)2Pd(SC6F5)2 werden im Bereich von 6000 bis 45 000/cm aufgenommen und im Sinne der Ligandenfeldtheorie diskutiert. Der SC6F5‐Ligand wird in der spektrochemischen Reihe etwa zwischen NCO− und NCS−, in der nephelauxetischen Reihe J‐∼SC6F5− eingeordnet. Für die optische Elektronegativität wird χopt(SC6F5) = 2.5–2.6 gefunden.
Seit nunmehr 50 Jahren werden helle Montanwachse durch Veredelung des in bestimmten Braunkohle‐Vorkommen enthaltenen Rohmontanwachses technisch hergestellt. Hierbei wird das als solches nur begrenzt gebrauchsfähige dunkle Rohmontanwachs in helle hochwertige Wachsprodukte umgewandelt. Auf Grund einer langjährigen konsequenten Entwicklungsarbeit stehen heute für die Montanwachsveredelung Verfahren zur Verfügung, die es erlauben, in gezielter Weise für praktisch jeden Anwendungszweck optimal geeignete Wachsprodukte herzustellen. Dabei wird das komplex zusammengesetzte Rohmontanwachs zunächst nach speziellen Verfahren entharzt und gebleicht. Anschließend kann es dann durch verschiedenartige chemische Umsetzungen in vielfältiger Weise modifiziert werden. Es wird ein Überblick über die heutzutage bekannten Verfahren der Montanwachsveredelung gegeben.
