CASE STUDY: CONVENTIONAL SPIRALS X LARGE DIAMETER SPIRALS AbstractThis study aimed to compare the process performance between conventional and large diameter spirals, in the concentration of iron ore. Tests were carried out to obtain the necessary data to compare the two kinds of spirals. The results show that the main variables affecting the separation efficiency in the spirals are the splitters open and the solids concentration in the feed. The large diameter spiral achieved better results, even without the use of wash water, but more tests are needed for a definitive conclusion.
COMBINED THICKENING OF TAILINGS/SLIME AbstractThe thickening is the most widely used method for dewatering in the mineral industry. The aim of this study was to verify the feasibility of combined thickeness of tailings/slime considering the use of existing systems of thickening, pumping and disposal of tailings to reduce capex in expansion project. The methodology used in this work consisted in conventional graduated cylinder test by varying the proportion of tailings/slime, dosage of flocculant and solids content in the feed. The results indicate that the combined thickness reduce unit area and increase the solids content in the thickener underflow (UF).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
