ABSTRACTThis article analyzes how «the fantastic» is implemented in two Claudia Hernández's short stories. Specifically, this paper verifies how these texts naturalize «the extraordinary event», in order to emphasize the ambiguity we can find in fantastic literature, as a product from the coexistence of opposing epistemological systems. Finally, these short stories are included in "the modern fantastic" (as Ana Markovic explains it), characterized by its insistence on revealing the arbitrariness of both: "reality" and cultural and moral standards.
