Para determinar la productividad de higuerilla en Sinaloa, se evaluaron la influencia de dos fechas de siembra, disponibilidad de agua y dos densidades de siembra en el rendimiento de grano de cuatro híbridos de higuerilla, el ensayo se estableció en Campo Experimental Valle del Fuerte. Durante los ciclos agrícolas otoño-invierno con fecha de siembra del 10 de diciembre de 2015 y primavera-verano 2015-2016 con fecha de siembra del 18 de febrero de 2016. Se utilizó un diseño de bloques completos al azar con cuatro repeticiones, la parcela experimental fue de cuatro surcos de 20 m de largo, con una separación de 0.80 m, equivalente a 64 m2, se manejaron dos densidades de población: 23 000 y 26 000 plantas ha-1, y dos regímenes de riego por ensayo. El análisis estadístico indicó que los híbridos 2B-5, Chinatan y HB-8, resultaron superiores en rendimiento y sin diferencias estadísticas, con días a madurez de 145 a 152, por lo que se consideran de ciclo normal; la altura promedio fue de 20 m, considerada de porte medio. El ciclo que más favorece el desarrollo del cultivo para HB-8 y 2B-5 es O-I con densidad de 23 000 plantas ha-1 y tres riegos de auxilio para primavera-verano, se recomiendan cuatro riegos de auxilio, densidad de 23 000 plantas ha-1 y los híbridos de mejor respuesta fueron HB-8 y Chinatan con rendimientos superior a 3 000 kg ha-1.
El objetivo fue estimar los efectos de aptitud combinatoria general (ACG) y la aptitud combinatoria específica (ACE) en líneas de maíz y sus cruzas. Se utilizaron nueve líneas de maíz, divididas en dos grupos: el primero, como machos, formado por cuatro líneas de la Universidad Autónoma Agraria Antonio Narro Unidad Laguna (UAAAN-UL) derivadas de la Población-60 que se caracterizan por su adaptación a la Comarca Lagunera. El segundo, dos líneas recicladas del banco de germoplasma de CIMMYT (L25 y L26 de ciclo precóz-Intermedio, de grupo heterótico A adaptadas al Sub trópico y, tres líneas (L23, L27 y L28) de la UAAAN-UL que provienen de la cruza de Población-61 x LAN 388P línea enana, con hojas anchas y verticales generada a partir de la tercera generación del híbrido AN-388. En 2013 se generaron 20 cruzas por el método II de Carolina del Norte. Se evaluaron en abril de 2014 en un diseño de bloques al azar, dos repeticiones y riego normal. La parcela fue de dos surcos de 3.0 m de largo y 0.75 m de ancho y 0.17 m entre planta, una densidad de 78, 431 plantas por hectárea. Se fertilizó con la fórmula 180-90-00. Se tomaron datos de Floración masculina (FM), Femenina (FF), Altura de planta (AP) y Mazorca (AMz), dimensiones de mazorca: diámetro DMz), longitud (LMz), numero de hileras (NH) y granos por hilera (GH) y, rendimiento de grano (Rend). Los 20 híbridos experimentales fueron significativamente diferentes (p≤0.01) en nueve de las variables. Los probadores machos (M), fueron diferentes (p≤0.05) en floración femenina (FF) y altamente significativa (p≤0.01) para floración masculina (FM) y longitud de mazorca (LMz), en tanto que el resto fue no-significativo (AP, AM, HMz, GH, DMz y Rend). En contraste, las hembras (H), mostraron mayor diversidad, pues se observaron diferencias (p≤0.05) para hileras por mazorca (HM) y, diferencias altamente significativas (p≤0.01) para: FM, FF, AP, LMz, GH, DMz y Rend. En las líneas hembra se observó mayor diversidad que en los machos usados como probadores. La interacción MxH fue significativamente diferente para FF y dimensiones de la mazorca (LMz, GH y DMz) además de Rend. Tres de las Líneas Macho (L1, L2, L3) mostraron ACG positiva y significativa para Rend, en cambio en las hembras solo las L23 y L28 fueron significativas. Los mayores efectos de ACE positivos y significativos se observaron en seis de las 20 cruzas donde 2x26, 5x26 y 6x28 mostraron los mayores rendimientos de grano. La acción génica aditiva y no-aditiva fueron de importancia en el presente estudio.
