Horticultura Brasileira, Brasília, v. 20, n. 1, RESUMOO trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito de cinco soluções nutritivas sobre o crescimento da planta e rendimento de frutos do morangueiro, cv. Dover, cultivado em substrato e com fertirrigação. Os experimentos foram feitos no Departamento de Fitotecnia da UFSM, em Santa Maria, RS, nos anos de 1998 e 1999, no interior de um túnel alto de polietileno. As plantas foram cultivadas em sacolas plásticas contendo 3,5 L de substrato por planta, na densidade de 6,6 plantas/m 2 . A dose de referência, em g/planta/semana, foi de 0,235 de KNO 3 ; 0,365 de Ca(NO 3 ) 2 ; 0,167 de MgSO 4 ; 0,087 de superfosfato simples, complementada por 0,008 mL de ferro quelatizado (5% Fe) e 0,038 mL de uma solução contendo os demais micronutrientes. Em 1998, o tratamento inferior (T1) foi igual à dose de referência, enquanto T2 e T3 corresponderam às quantidades de T1 multiplicadas por dois e três, respectivamente. Em 1999, a dose inferior (T4) foi igual ao tratamento T3 do ano anterior, enquanto T5 e T6 corresponderam às quantidades de T3 multiplicadas por 1,50 e 2,25, respectivamente. Cada um dos três tratamentos foi aplicado via da fertirrigação, em intervalos regulares de uma semana, a uma fileira distinta com 60 plantas. No período entre a oitava e a vigésima semana após o transplante, foi determinada a acumulação de matéria seca da parte aérea da planta, em intervalos de 21 dias, e a matéria fresca acumulada de frutos colhidos maduros, nos dois experimentos. Os resultados indicaram as quantidades, em g/planta, de 1,06 de KNO 3 ; 1,64 de Ca(NO 3 ) 2 ; 0,75 de MgSO 4 ; 0,40 de superfosfato simples, complementada por 0,036 mL de ferro quelatizado (5% Fe) e 0,17 mL da solução contendo os demais micronutrientes, como a dose semanal a ser empregada para atingir o rendimento máximo de frutos do morangueiro cultivado em substrato.Palavras-chave: Fragaria x ananassa, crescimento, rendimento, fertirrigação. A regularidade de oferta de hortaliças ao longo do ano é um dos principais desafios atuais da olericultura. Para tanto, sistemas de produção com tecnologia mais sofisticada estão sendo cada vez mais empregados, como os cultivos em ambientes protegidos, hidropônicos e em substrato. Face à complexidade crescente desses sistemas de produção, a etapa referente à produção de mudas tende a ser feita por produtores especializados, que atuam como fornecedores de mudas para aqueles dedicados à produção final. Esse segmento da olericultura está fortemente desenvolvido em outros países (Nicola & Basocu, 2000). No Brasil, horticultores especializados nessa atividade estão surgindo em vários Estados. Horticultura Brasileira, Brasília, v. 19, n. 3, RESUMODois experimentos foram realizados na Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, RS, no verão do ano 2000, para comparar o crescimento e desenvolvimento de mudas de tomateiro e melão nos méto-dos de irrigação por microaspersão, inundação subsuperficial e flutuação. A semeadura foi efetuada em bandejas de poliestireno com 128 células, empregando como substrato um volume de 20 mL de turfa em cada célula, o qual armazenou um volume de água retido de 9 mL. Nos métodos da inundação subsuperficial e da flutuação foram construídos reservatórios com 0,80 m de largura, 1,70 m de comprimento e 0,10 m de profundidade. No método da inundação subsuperficial, o volume de água contido no reservatório foi drenado após cada irrigação, enquanto naquele da flutuação as bandejas permaneceram flutuando sobre a superfície da água durante todo o período experimental. Em cada experimento, os três métodos foram comparados como tratamentos, empregando-se três conjuntos de duas bandejas para cada tratamento, dispostas lado a lado. O dispositivo experimental foi duplicado para testar os mesmos tratamentos nas espécies do tomateiro e do melão. Periodicamente foi feita coleta de plantas para determinação da massa seca da parte aérea e radicular, da altura das plântulas e contagem do número de folhas. Os resultados indicaram que a inundação subsuperficial foi o método que mais favoreceu o desenvolvimento e o crescimento da parte aérea das mudas, tanto para o tomateiro como para o melão.
