Este artigo discute as formas de resistências de mulheres que realizam práticas de cura e de saúde que consistem em modos alternativos à prática hegemônica da medicina ocidental imposta aos corpos pela colonialidade do poder, do saber e do ser. Tal análise baseia-se na realização de pesquisa etnográfica em dois diferentes contextos, a saber, com mães de santo de dois terreiros afrorreligiosos, no Rio Grande do Sul, e com benzedeiras integrantes do Movimento Aprendizes da Sabedoria (MASA), no Paraná. Propomos a discussão, a partir do que essas mulheres evocam e realizam, de modos de saber-fazer que evidenciam rupturas ao modelo ocidental-patriarcal de produção de conhecimento sobre os corpos e sobre a saúde. Suas práticas e conhecimentos de cura, dinamizados nesses dois contextos etnográficos, produzem relações intensas com humanos e não humanos (plantas, água, terra, animais, orixás, santos populares, monges etc.), em que entes diversos atuam como intensidades e potências relacionais. Benzedeiras e mães de santo reivindicam o reconhecimento de suas práticas religiosas e de cura que, historicamente, foram discriminadas, censuradas, vigiadas e reprimidas pelo Estado, como nos casos em que afrorreligiosos/as eram perseguidos/as e as benzedeiras e curandeiras detidas sob a acusação de realizarem atividades ilegais de cura.
Neste artigo, discuto os cruzamentos e as passagens que se dão na religião afro-brasileira partindo da relação entre espíritos indígenas e Orixás. A interpenetração cosmos/sociopolítica e humano/extra-humano conecta práticas ameríndias e afro-brasileiras: o intermediário para o Orixá que trabalha na pedreira será um(a) caboclo(a) da linha de Xangô. O Caboclo Sete Encruzilhadas – que abriu a religião para que os espíritos de pretos-velhos, de indígenas e de outros povos pudessem chegar – é intensivamente ligado a práticas rituais da Umbanda, da Quimbanda e do Batuque do Rio Grande do Sul, pois este caboclo se cruza e pode atuar na terreira, em outra passagem sua, como Exu das Sete Encruzilhadas.
Esse artigo apresenta como as entidades do povo da rua são acionadas nas religiões afro-brasileiras. Pela etnografia realizada junto a dois terreiros localizados no Rio Grande do Sul, vemos que essa linhamobiliza encontros, afetos e cruzamentos nas pessoas que incorporam exus e pombagiras. As entidades da rua possuem relações com outros entes que são envolvidos em funções estabelecidas por dimensões cósmicas nas quais há a necessidade de uma mediação para acioná-las. Esta religiosidade opera como experimentação de mundos, na qual estão em constante formação maneiras de viver que se equacionam e se produzem nas relações intensivas entre médiuns e entidades. Assim, compreendo que é a partir do Povo da Rua que podemos visualizar uma estética da existência, ética e política, afro-religiosa.
