Summary
Background. Shoulder girdle remains in a functional relationship with the cervical spine. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship of scapula resting position and the mobility of the cervical spine as well as between the asymmetry of scapular alignment and cervical spine function.
Material and methods. The participants of the study were players of the Lublin volleyball academic league (N=44). The range of motion of the cervical spine (flexion, extension, lateral flexions, rotations) was measured and the distance between the medial border and the vertebral column at the level of the scapular spine. For the measurement a measuring tape was used. For the statistical analysis the Student's t-test was used with significance level set at p<0.05.Results. It has been observed that: when the distance between the shoulder blades and the vertebral column was greater, the extension of the cervical spine was smaller (p=0.046; p=0.039
