RESUMO: A soldagem é um método de união dos metais, muito utilizado na indústria automobilística, presente no processo de estampagem como meio de manutenção e reparo dos componentes que compõem as ferramentas. A soldagem em componentes como matrizes e facas de corte, constituídos de aço ferramenta, são suscetíveis a trincas devido a dureza e tenacidade do aço. Neste contexto, foi estudado as características do cordão de solda produzida com metal de adição Tec Dur 47 no aço ferramenta VC 131 a partir do processo de soldagem GTAW manual, alterando o tipo de corrente e variando a polaridade, com base na literatura no que se refere a soldagem em matrizes de corte e a soldagem em diferentes polaridades, buscou avaliar os cordões de solda obtidos levando em consideração o aporte térmico e a diluição calculados a partir das condições de soldagem. A soldagem realizada com polaridade negativa apresentou maiores valores de aporte térmico associado, devido a polaridade negativa produzir maior calor gerado na peça, proporcionou maior aporte térmico e consequentemente maior diluição e penetração de solda.
