Este trabalho teve como objetivo realizar a Caracterização Morfométrica das microbacias hidrográficas do rio Piancó inseridas no município de Itaporanga-PB com auxílio de um Sistema de Informação Geográfica, no sentido de gerar uma base de dados para o planejamento ambiental, permitindo o estabelecimento de diretrizes para projetos e implantação de políticas públicas municipais. A base de dados utilizada foi obtida através de imagens SRTM disponibilizadas pela NASA, o processamento e gerenciamento dos dados foram realizados em um ambiente de SIG de uso livre (QGIS v 3.16). Na área de estudo foram delimitadas 19 (dezenove) micro bacias hidrográficas onde as áreas das mesmas variaram de 4,12 km² a 65,92 Km². Para a relação de relevo foi obtido uma média de 127,51 m/km, fator que tende a favorecer escoamento rápido. No que diz respeito a forma da bacia, fator primordial a possíveis enchentes, destacam-se, a saber, o coeficiente de compacidade (Kc) que teve variação entre 1,22 e 1,70 com valor médio de 1,52; o índice de circularidade (Ic) variando entre 0,32 a 0,66 com valor médio de 0,44; o fator de forma (Kf) variando entre 0,18 a 0,76 com uma média de 0,37. Em relação a densidade hidrográfica das microbacias, a área de estudo apresentou uma média de 3,22 canais/km². Outro fator de relevância calculado foi a densidade de drenagem que variou de 1,46 a 1,91 km/ km², ficando com uma média de 1,66 km/ km².
