Ž. Ž. Dual fluorescence and fast intramolecular charge transfer ICT is observed with 4-diisopropylamino benzonitrile Ž. Ž. DIABN in alkane solvents. The rate constant k for the reaction from the locally excited LE to the ICT state has a value a of 3.4 = 10 11 s y1 in n-hexane at 258C, with an activation energy E of 6 kJ mol y1. Efficient intersystem crossing with a a Ž. yield of 0.94 takes place from the ICT state. With 4-dimethylamino benzonitrile, in contrast, dual fluorescence is not Ž. observed in alkanes. The charge transfer reaction of DIABN is mainly favoured by its small energy gap D E S ,S , in
Cognitive impairments in Parkinson's disease (PD) could be explained by a central executive (CE) deficit in A. D. Baddeley's (1986) working memory model. To test this hypothesis, verbal, spatial, and double span tasks were given to 12 medicated PD patients and control participants, with varying recall delays. The double span task was assigned to explore the coordinating and integrating function of the CE, and lengthening the recall delay was expected to implicate more attentional resources. PD patients had lower spans relative to controls in all tasks. However, the more specific implication of the CE was difficult to prove. One reason could be that PD patients were on dopaminergic treatment when tested. To control this effect, 12 PD patients on and off medication were studied in a second experiment using the same tasks. PD patients off medication had lower spans only in the double task; this result underlines the role of dopamine on working memory processes.
The resonance Raman spectra of the radical cations of
three deuterated derivatives of 1,3-butadiene are
reported.
Together with the data for the parent compound (cf.: Keszthelyi,
T.; Wilbrandt, R.; Bally, T. J. Phys. Chem.
1996, 100, 16843), 22 frequencies of totally
symmetric fundamentals are available to complement 29
previously
obtained IR data for the same compounds (Tang, W; Zhang, X.-L., Bally,
T. J. Phys. Chem.
1993, 97,
4373)
and to generate a new and improved scaled quantum mechanical force
field of butadiene radical cation based
on B3LYP/6-31G* second derivatives. After fitting those with 13
scaling factors, the resulting force field
reproduces all 51 observed fundamental vibrations of the four
isotopomers with a root-mean-square deviation
of 6.03 cm-1 (10.6
cm-1 for the 11 strongly anharmonic
C−H/C−D stretches, 3.92 cm-1 for the
remaining
40 modes). It allows the first experimentally based prediction of
the stretching force constant for the central
C−C bond and corrects the previous ones for the terminal CC
stretch. As in the case of the parent compound,
evidence is presented for the presence of the s-cis rotamer
after ionization whose vibrations are predicted
very accurately by scaling a B3LYP/6-31G* force field of
cis-butadiene•+ with the
optimized scaling factors
of the s-trans rotamer.
The purpose was to assess the psychometric properties of the French version of the Young Schema Questionnaire - Short Form 3 (YSQ–S3). The main non-clinical sample (N = 605, M = 20.63, 78% women) was divided into two subsamples: One was used for exploratory factor analyses (EFA) and the other was used for confirmatory analyses. Next, internal consistency, convergent validity and criterion-related validity were studied. The EFA to each of the five domains was similar to the theoretical structure postulated by Young. The confirmatory analysis of each of the five domains appeared to favor our solution over a single-factor solution and Young’s solution. The confirmatory factor analyses of high-order structures did not give fully satisfactory results but appeared to favor our solution (RMSEA =.11, CFI =.76, TLI =.71, SRMR =.07, AIC = 58,566.44). In our best model, the reliability (> .70) was satisfactory for fourteen schemas. The relationships between the schemas and the neuroticism, extraversion and psychoticism scores went in the expected directions. Detrimental parental rearing behaviors were linked to high scores for the various schemas. Lastly, 4 schemas differentiated between the clinical and non-clinical groups. In conclusion, the overall psychometric qualities of the French version of the YSQ–S3 allow its use in clinical populations.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
