Abstract In this article, several strategic dimensions from eight Ibero-American journals of Physical Education/Sports Sciences ( ve Brazilian, two Spanish and one Portuguese) included in the new Web of Science platform are evaluated. The analysis was performed from the 2012 published issues and from the information available in their websites. Palabras clave: revistas científicas, calidad, evaluación, Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte, ranking Abstract: This paper evaluates and classifies Spanish Physical Activity and Sports Science journals according to their overall quality. A previously validated assessment model combining 23 indicators of style, scientific content and diffusion characteristics was used for this purpose. This model classifies journals into four quality categories: 'very high', 'high', 'medium' and 'low'. None of the 28 journals studied fell into the top category, 25% fell into the 'high' category, 50% into the 'medium' category, and the remaining 25% into the 'low' category. A general improvement was observed compared to previous assessments of these journals, although deficient standardization and a non frequent use of the blind peer review process were still evident. In addition, their visibility (especially in databases) remains limited.
AbstractThe transformation of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) into knowledge and learning technologies is increasingly becoming a matter of concern. Teaching settings associated with the use of blogs in Higher Education are presented in this paper, proceeding from an innovative learning experience of projects carried out by a group of professors between 2009 and 2013. Both, teachers and students who took part in the subjects that implemented the blog, considered it as helpful resource to create a virtual and learning-teaching environment due to the multiple potentialities it offers.
