Bending Shear Tests on R/C-Beams with Post-Installed Shear ReinforcementA research project has been started to investigate a new method of strengthening beams with insufficient shear resistance by applying post-installed reinforcement. 10 reinforced concrete beams have been tested in shear, number and location of the inclined rebars as well as type of injection mortar have been varied. The rebars were installed in mortar-injected boreholes and anchored with metal plates at the accessible bar end. The test results confirmed that post-installed rebars can significantly increase the beam shear resistance provided they are situated properly and adequate injection mortars used. Above that the evaluation of the different contributions to shear resistance like truss action, dowel action and shear strength of compression chord provides new findings on the general shear failure mechanism in RC structures.

Bei einem der derzeit größten europäischen Bahninfrastrukturprojekte, der Hochgeschwindigkeitsstrecke zwischen Amsterdam und Brüssel, wird auf einer Länge von 65 km das Feste Fahrbahn System RHEDA 2000 ® verwendet, wobei Unter-und Oberbau als flache Betonplatten ausgebildet sind, welche durch Befestigungselemente verbunden werden müssen. Im Beitrag wird erläutert, wie diese Elemente auf die Anforderungen des Projektes hin entwickelt wurden. Mit umfangreichen Versuchen mußte nachgewiesen werden, daß die vorgeschlagenen Elemente alle Spezifikationen bezüglich Tragfähigkeit, Gebrauchstauglichkeit und Ermüdung erfüllen. Zur Ermittlung der Ermüdungsfestigkeit wurde die Wöhlerkurve ermittelt.
Concrete Connectors for High Speed Rail TrackThe high speed line from Amsterdam to Brussels is currently one of the largest rail infrastructure projects in Europe. For 65 kilometres it uses the RHEDA 2000 ® slab track system with flat concrete slabs as sub-and superstructure in order to optimize concrete consumption. The slabs have to be connected by fastening elements. This report describes the development of specific elements to meet exactly the requirements of the project. Comprehensive testing had to prove that all specifications concerning load bearing capacity, displacements at serviceability load level and fatigue resistance are fulfilled. The fatigue strength was evaluated by developping a Woehler curve experimentally.
