RESUMOO presente texto explora os possíveis nexos entre paisagem e retrato na produção artística contemporânea, focando a obra de Ana Mendieta. Trata-se de pensar o corpo humano como paisagem (ou vice-versa) com base em uma poética da "representabilidade" (Didi--Huberman) e de espaços inventados (Caillois). Na história da arte, o corpo sempre foi utilizado pelos artistas como suporte ou mesmo como obra de arte em potencial. De fato, nesse incessante processo de reinvenção do corpo como objeto de arte nascem retratos como paisagens e paisagens como retratos, os quais colocam em evidência os problemas da visibilidade, da alteridade e da identidade.
