Leur appareil cénital s'ouvre sous une pièce écailleuse du commencement de l'abdomen, à la partie inférieure de celui-ci.Quant aux impressions bilatérales des arceaux inférieurs de l'abdomen , elles ne nous ont pas paru perforées. L'abdomen se compose en dessous de dix articles en comptant celui qui sert d'opercule.Genre PHRYNE. [Phrjnus.) Les Phrynes sont des contrées chaudes du globe. Il y en a dont le corps a 0,04 de lonjiucur, el comme leurs palpes et leurs pattes antérieures ont habituellement beaucoup de développement , leur volume paraît encore plus considérable qu'il n'est , et leur aspect a quelque chose de repoussant. Ces animaux ne constituent qu'un seul genre dont on doit la distinction à Olivier (1). Fabricius les mettait avec les Télyphones dans son genre Tarentula. Lichtenstein et Herbst en ont donné la monographie sous le nom de Phalangium , et en leur adjoignant encore les Télyphones. Le mot Jihax a dans Hermann une signification analogue, en y ajoutant toutefois les Galéodes. M. Van der Hoeven, 4d ernier , celui-ci moitié moins large que long , deux fois plus long que haut. Fauve , les deux antépénultièmes anneaux de la queue noirâtres. Long, totale , un peu plus de 2 pouces. Andr.
