As plantas daninhas quando não são bem manejadas podem causar percas de mais de 90% na produção final da cultura. Para o cultivo do feijão-caupi existem certas dificuldades para o controle destas, pois não se têm herbicidas pré-emergentes registrados para a cultura. Com isso este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a tolerância inicial do feijão-caupi a aplicação de herbicidas em pré-emergência da cultura. O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com três repetições. Os tratamentos avaliados foram: sulfentrazone (200 g ha-1), S-metolachlor (768 g ha1 ), [clomazone + carfentrazone] ([480 + 12] g ha-1), imazethapyr (40 g ha-1), [flumioxazin + imazethapyr] ([100 + 50] g ha-1), diclosulam (25 g ha-1), cloransulam (30 g ha-1), flumioxazin (50 g ha-1), sulfentrazone + S-metolachlor (200 + 768 g ha-1) e uma testemunha. Todos os herbicidas foram aplicados após a semeadura do feijão-caupi. Foram realizadas avaliações de fitointoxicação, contagem de plantas, altura de plantas, massa seca da parte aérea e raiz. A mistura dos herbicidas sulfentrazone + S-metolachlor promoveu danos irreversíveis a cultura. O feijão-caupi não possui tolerância ao flumioxazin ou a misturas que envolvam a utilização deste herbicida. Pode se observar que o feijão-caupi apresentou tolerância intermediária aos herbicidas sulfentrazone e diclosulam. Os herbicidas S-metolachlor, imazethapyr e cloransulam apresentaram potencial de uso em aplicações em pré-emergência da cultura do feijão-caupi.
