Objective: to reflect on Paulo Freire's Research Itinerary as a theoretical-methodological framework developed within the Culture Circles and their contributions to health.Method: the text was constructed with the support of the Freirean praxis, seeking to reflect on its method of work, which occurs in three dialectical and interdisciplinary phases: thematic research; coding and decoding; and critical unveiling. The research itinerary values the cultural and historical sources of the participants, which can be revealed in the Culture Circles.Results: this framework is based on a critical-social pedagogy, which has an ethical commitment to emancipation and liberation from society to promote quality of life. For this to occur there are two fundamental elements in its philosophy: awareness and dialogue. These reflect a true exercise of transdisciplinarity, especially in the area of health, whose practices are aimed at the human being. Paulo Freire is an educator, based on a political-humanist vision, whose main concepts are: dialogue, culture, praxis, oppressor/oppressed, emancipation and Culture Circles Conclusion: freirean praxis reflects reality and intervenes in such, theorizing it not pedagogically but in its political dimension. Objective: to understand the process of caring for the person with HIV/AIDS in the Primary Health Care of a capital in southern Brazil. Method: qualitative, exploratory and descriptive research, carried out in the Health Centers of this city, from March to August 2015. Sixteen nurses participated through semi-structured interviews, which were organized and codified with the help of the software QSR Nvivo®, version 10. Afterwards, the data were analyzed through comparative analysis. Results: results were described in two categories: “The inter-subjective encounter given the vulnerability to HIV/AIDS”, and, “Accepting needs and formulating actions given the reality”. Potentialities and weaknesses were evidenced through these categories, such as: reception, long-term care, active search, home visits, and, in return, lacking a formal flow of care for people living with HIV/ AIDS, lack of HIV/AIDS line of care and medical/centered care. Conclusion: the need to implement HIV/AIDS management in primary care was verified, as well as to overcome the fragilities in this care with the aid of implementing a formal care flow, establishing managerial processes and permanent education for the professionals. Then, expanding and qualifying care in HIV/AIDS, with important contributions of the nurse in the perspective of integral care in the process of living with HIV/AIDS.
Objectives: to share the contributions of culture circles for teaching, research, and professional nursing practice, having as framework Paulo Freire’s Research Itinerary. Methods: this is an experience report of a culture circle, with participation of three professors and ten students, enrolled in a course of a Graduate Program in Nursing in southern Brazil. In this culture circle, a tree was built in which the roots formed the thematic investigation, the stem, coding and decoding, and the leaves, the Research Itinerary critical unveiling. Results: participants demonstrated empowerment of Paulo Freire’s assumptions, and building a tree made it possible to discuss in a pleasant and playful way culture circle use in teaching, research, and professional nursing practice. Final Considerations: the culture circle promoted reflection and action on nursing praxis, turning Freirean thoughts into something concrete and transforming realities.
