Against the background of the renewal of approaches to the development of geography education, the formation of national-patriotic consciousness among students, the introduction of pedagogical technologies into the educational process in order to study the characteristics of their native land, the question arises of the need to modernize the training of future geography teachers in local lore and tourism work. The purpose - to theoretically substantiate and experimentally check pedagogical conditions of preparation of future teachers of geography for local lore and tourist work on the basis of the competence approach. 236 students majoring in "Geography and Biology" with a bachelor's degree formed a control group and 232 - an experimental group. The pedagogical conditions of training of future teachers of geography for local lore and tourist work on the basis of the competence approach are defined and realized: stimulating positive motivation to study local lore material in the disciplines of the cycle of general (fundamental) and professional (scientific-subject) training and disciplines of additional specialization "Local lore and tourism work"; acquisition of knowledge, skills (competencies) for the implementation of local lore and tourism work through the optimization of student groups; intensification of the experience of local lore and tourism work during educational and pedagogical practices. The effectiveness of pedagogical conditions is proved by the results of the formative experiment: the number of students with a high level of local lore competence in the experimental group increased, while in the control group the same indicator did not increase significantly. The results of the study indicate a dynamic positive change in the formation of local lore competence of experimental groups under the influence of the proposed innovations.
The research analyzes the process of developing competency in local history in future teachers as one of the components of their professional training. It shows that the development of components of competency in local history contributes to developing the teacher’s personality as a researcher and specialist in terrain geography. It presents the author’s model for training future teachers (based on the example of geography teachers) for local studies and tourist activities following a competency-based approach. This model consists of several blocks and their parts: targets (goals, objectives), methods and structure (approaches, principles, the subjectivity of relationships between participants in local studies and tourist activities, components of competency in local history and their criteria), content and procedures (stages, content, forms, methods, technologies, pedagogical conditions), evaluation and outcomes (levels, as well as the results obtained from the introduction of the author’s model into the educational process). Also, the research specifies the following criteria of future geography teachers’ competency in local history: motivation and values, cognition and knowledge, activities and practice. It clarifies low, average and high levels of future geography teachers’ competency in local history. It demonstrates the organization and the course of experimental work. Finally, it draws relevant conclusions about the effectiveness of proposed pedagogical conditions for developing competency in local history in future geography teachers following a competency-based approach.
This article covers the main approaches to implementing tourism local lore in the course of education. The problem is relevant due to the demand for competent specialists who are capable to form contemporary children`s competence in the course of education. Therefore, the theoretical-methodological analysis of the researchers of the problem identified, who became the rationale for the main results of the research to be determined, is provided in this paper. It is also ascertained that it is necessary to form a structured part of the professional competence of a rising geography teacher – local lore competence. There is some dependence of the level of qualification of rising teachers on an accurately planned process of formation of not only knowledge, skills and capabilities, but also personal traits of students formed at a higher educational institution. The concepts of native land, local lore and tourism, their correlation, conduction forms, functions are studied in the researches of scholars and according to the results of this theoretical research. In addition, the local lore principle is set as competency-based learning. The method of analysis, scientific, descriptive and research methods are used for studying tourism local lore in the contemporary system of education. Analysing the role of tourism local lore proves the demand for searching and gaining knowledge about a native land, optimising the study of major subjects, forming an individual cognitive experience of students-geographers. Such conclusions are the results of this research.
Social transformations, changings on the labour market, in particular in the educational services' sector, need qualitative modifications in conceptual principles of prospective geography teachers’ vocational training. As a result of scientific literature's studying, the essence of the problem of prospective teachers' geography training for hiking and local-lore activities has been analyzed, and a set of conclusions have been formulated. Until the mid 20th century scientists had been researching organisation of tourist-related and regional studies activities mostly in line with traditional school didactics. Only at the end of the second half of the 20th century – at the beginning of the 21st century interest for the organisation of students’ tourism and their studies of local lore grew higher. During this period foundations have been laid for touristic and local-lore activities as a pedagogical category in tertiary institutions. Attempts are being made to study this question in the context of new pedagogical technologies. Therefore explorers have concentrated their attention on professional competence, description of its significant indications and structure, on diagnostics.
The article examines the program principles and subject content of natural science training of future psychologists in Central Europe (Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic). The choice of these countries for the study is due to the fact that despite short period of membership in the European Union, the countries achieved a significant progress in developing national education systems. The purpose of the article is to identify the main trends in natural science training of future psychologists and their correlation with the latest ideas of neurobiology, which is gradually becoming complementary to psychological, pedagogical and other humanities. Using methods of analysis (content analysis of educational programs; analysis of educational content for accordance with the latest advances in neurobiology), comparative method, statistical methods and extrapolation method, it was found that natural science training in universities in Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic partially corresponds to practical application of neurobiology in the professional practice of psychologists. We present specific aspects of qualitative differences in the conclusions. We also calculated that the quantitative ratio of major subjects differs: the volume of credits for natural science training of future psychologists in the curricula of the analysed higher education institutions in Poland is about 6%, in the Czech Republic - 9-10%, and in Hungary - 11-12%. The international significance of the article lies in identification of positive practical and formal approaches to neurobiological training, which requires organizational and methodological reforms of psychological education in Eastern Europe.
