No Brasil, o câncer de mama tem maior incidência em mulheres na faixa etária de 40 a 59 anos está associado a vários fatores de risco entre eles: fatores genéticos, ambientais e comportamentais. Tem como característica a proliferação desordenada e crescimento celular constante das células. Entre as formas mais eficazes de detecção precoce se encontram o exame clínico da mama e a mamografia. Exames de imagem da mama, como mamografia, e dependendo da situação, ultrassonografia ou ressonância magnética são importantes para o diagnóstico. O objetivo geral do trabalho é descrever os aspectos relacionados aos métodos de diagnóstico do câncer de mama no Brasil. Este estudo consiste em desenvolver uma revisão sistemática. No que diz respeito a metodologia, usaremos as recomendações do método PRISMA. Fez-se um levantamento bibliográfico de produções indexadas nas seguintes bases de dados eletrônicas: Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), BVS e no PubMed, nos idiomas: Inglês, português e espanhol. Tendo sido selecionado 10 estudos para análise, esses demostram que uma correlação das condições entre o diagnóstico tardio o nível socioeconômico da mulher, assim como que ao suspeitar de câncer de mama durante uma mamografia de rastreamento ou durante a palpação das mamas. O diagnóstico deve ser confirmado por exames complementares. A maior mortalidade de mulheres com câncer de mama se dá em locais onde fatores socioeconômicos são mais precários, fatores esses agravados pela má distribuição de recursos que influencia negativamente na identificação e tratamento precoce do câncer de mama.
