Abstract. А modern learning environment can be developed by using innovative tools and methods. Benefits of robotics in teaching and learning processes have recently been drawing an increasing attention of researchers. The article aims are to perform а systematic review of the literature on the application of educational robots in schools, in order to identify the experience in the use of robotics in both formal primary, basic, and secondary schools and informal education, e.g. after school activities, summer camps. 16 relevant articles have been selected from the bibliographic databases as part of the systematic literature review. The analysis covers the following components of the articles: research aim, a curriculum taught by using robots, specific teaching methods, other characteristics (sample size, age limits and/or study cycle), and findings. The systematic literature review has shown that robotics has been paving its way as a teaching aid in a more intensive and flexible manner. The systematized findings of the literature review show the need for a further scientific research in this area in Lithuanian schools and may provide educators, practitioners and researchers, working in this area, with valuable guidelines.
With the advance of information and communications technologies, new teaching tools are becoming more pervasive. These tools can be utilized in a variety of ways to improve and enhance math teaching. Considering the integration of technology in teaching mathematics, it is clear that the replacement of board and chalk with digital presentation material does not cover all the aspects of the mathematic subjects. One of the important prerequisites for quality of integration technology into mathematics teaching is the teacher's personality, i.e. knowledge, willingness and desire to improve his/her lessons bringing mathematics closer to the present generations of pupils.GeoGebra as a dynamic mathematics software allows users to explore multiple representations of mathematics concepts. The paper deals with the problem of deployment of GeoGebra in Lithuanian's primary math education and the main purpose of this study is to investigate reasons/ factors affecting teachers' decision to utilize GeoGebra and learning objects prepared by it in their teaching process. With a view to evaluate GeoGebra's suitability to primary education an expert opinion poll was conducted and results of that exploratory study are presented.
The aim of the paper is to present a new MCEQLS AHP method for the expert evaluation of quality of learning scenarios. A special attention is paid to suitability of scenarios to particular learner groups (styles). Solution of learning scenarios quality evaluation and optimisation problem could help educational institutions to select suitable scenarios for particular learning styles. The research results will be implemented in iTEC – a four-year, largest pan-European e-learning R&D project focused on the design of the future classroom funded by 7th Framework Programme. A novel method of consecutive triple application of AHP is explored in more detail. Suitability of several iTEC scenarios to particular learner groups is also analysed in the paper. A number of multiple criteria decision analysis principles are applied to create a comprehensive quality model (criteria tree) for evaluating quality of scenarios. Several optimisation methods are explored and applied to optimise learning scenarios in conformity with particular learning style. Several practical examples of iTEC learning scenarios alternatives have been evaluated against the proposed MCEQLS AHP method. The research results have shown that the proposed MCEQLS AHP method is quite objective, exact and simple to use for selecting qualitative scenarios alternatives for particular learner groups.
