O presente artigo busca compreender os processos de educação popular desenvolvidos pela Comunidade Remanescente Quilombola (CRQ) – situada no município de Caucaia, no estado do Ceará – Cercadão dos Dicetas. De modo a apresentar a formulação das aprendizagens, das experiências e dos conhecimentos socialmente partilhados. Para tanto, se elaborou uma pesquisa eminentemente qualitativa, baseada em observações diretas, em entrevistas e rodas de conversas. Além de encaminhar uma investigação histórica como base de discussão enquanto se procura aprofundá-la com um mergulho empírico. O debate teórico se articula com uma observação sobre o reconhecimento em suas dimensões histórica, de raça e de classe, sem deixar de pontuar os processos de construção de identidades, que perpassam todo o processo de educação popular quilombola, tendo tanto os encontros comunitários quanto a educação escolar o foco central no ensino e nos sujeitos e nas suas vivências. Como considerações finais, observamos como a comunidade interpreta suas condições e propõe suas reivindicações de modo a resistir através da educação e como o processo educativo popular apresenta tanto limites, próprios e a ele impostos, quanto possibilidades.
