Ketones Q 0350Rh(I)-Catalyzed Solvent-Free ortho-Alkylation of Aromatic Imines under Microwave Irradiation. -Ketimine (III), prepared by an improved method using microwave irradiation (MW) and a water trap, undergoes the title reaction with several alkenes to give ortho-alkylated ketones in good yields. Either a domestic multimode oven or a monomode reactor are used. It is found that the two-step procedure with isolated (III) and alkene (IVb) gives a significant better overall yield than one-pot procedures starting from ketone (I). When aldimine (VI) is used instead of (III), hydroacylation proceeds prior to ortho-alkylation. -(VO-THANH, G.; LAHRACHE, H.; LOUPY*, A.; KIM, I.-J.; CHANG, D.-H.; JUN, C.-H.; Tetrahedron 60 (2004) 26, 5539-5543; Lab. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
