Foi estudada a positivídade dos caramujos Biomphalaria glabrata, único hospedeiro intermediário de esquistossomose, encontrado até agora naturalmente infectado no bairro do Telégrafo, em Belém do Pará. São apresentados, também, os números de pessoas infectadas, observadas ao longo dos últimos dez anos pelo Setor de Endemias da FNS-PA., que utilizou o método Kato-Katz.Os resultados mostram que existem índices de infecção para os caramujos coletados, variando de O a 60% nos logradouros pesquisados.
