Ferric carboxymaltose was the most effective intravenous iron formulation, followed by iron sucrose. In addition, ferric carboxymaltose tended to be better tolerated. Thus, nanocolloidal IV iron products exhibit differing therapeutic and safety characteristics and are not interchangeable.
First trimester screening for GDM can be achieved based on maternal anthropometric measurements and HOMA-IR. In particular, if BMI is >25.95 kg/m(2) and the HOMA-IR score >2.08, controlling weight gain may protect against GDM.
Objective: To investigate the effects of Nigella sativa seed supplementation on symptom levels, polymorphonuclear leukocyte (PMN) functions, lymphocyte subsets and hematological parameters of allergic rhinitis. Subjects and Methods: Twenty-four patients randomly selected from an experimental group of 31 (mean age 34 years) sensitive to house dust mites with allergic rhinitis and a control group of 8 healthy volunteers (mean age 23 years) were treated with allergen-specific immunotherapy in conventional doses for 30 days. After a month of immunotherapy, 12 of the 24 patients and the 8 healthy volunteers were given N. sativa seed supplementation (2 g/day orally) for 30 days. The remaining 12 patients continued only on immunotherapy during the same period. The other 7 patients were given 0.1 ml saline solution subcutaneously once a week as a placebo. The symptom scores, PMN functions, lymphocyte subsets and other hematological parameters were evaluated before and after all treatment periods. Results: There was a statistically significant increase in the phagocytic and intracellular killing activities of PMNs of patients receiving specific immunotherapy, especially after the addition of N. sativa seed. The CD8 counts of patients receiving specific immunotherapy plus N. sativa seed supplementation significantly increased compared to patients receiving only specific immunotherapy. PMN functions of healthy volunteers significantly increased after N. sativa seed supplementation compared to baseline. Conclusion:N. sativa seed supplementation during specific immunotherapy of allergic rhinitis may be considered a potential adjuvant therapy.
Sacral schwannomas are very rare tumors. There are merely around 50 cases reported in the literature most of which are case presentations. In this study we present a 13-case series, which is one of the most extensive series in the literature. Thirteen giant sacral schwannoma cases operated at Ege University, Faculty of Medicine, Neurosurgery Department between 1995 and 2010 are investigated retrospectively. All patients were assessed with direct radiography, computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The patients were operated, after the diagnosis through biopsy patients with Sridhar Type V classification are included in the study. Five patients were male, eight were female and the average age was 37.1 (ranging between 14 and 55). All the patients were suffering from back and leg pain at the time of consultation. Four patients had sphincter problems and three had weakness in the leg. After the biopsy and histological analysis, intralesionary resections were performed. Five patients went through both anterior and posterior interventions, six patients had only posterior and two had just anterior intervention. One patient had iliac vein injury during the anterior surgery. This patient was reoperated for embolectomy and vein graft because of thrombosis. Average follow-up period was 8.1 years (1-15 years). All patients were assessed with MR annually. A small residual tumor was detected in two patients, however they were not reoperated. Although sacral schwannomas are rare tumors, the diagnosis is not so difficult with CT and MRI. In this study, we suggest biopsy for predetermination of the nature of the tumor as it affects the treatment choice and the method of operation. Surgically, a simple intralesionary excision is an appropriate choice.
In this paper, we establish that every controlled metric space (X, d α ) induces a Hausdorff controlled metric (H α , CLD(X)) on the class of closed subsets of X which is also complete if (X, d α ) is complete. Furthermore, we define multivalued almost F-contractions on Hausdorff controlled metric spaces and prove some fixed point results.

scite is a Brooklyn-based startup that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
