This study uses the social identity perspective to explore the influence of benevolent leadership on followers’ unethical pro-organizational behavior (UPB). We also investigate the mediating role of supervisor identification and the moderating role of moral identity in the relationship between benevolent leadership and the followers’ UPB. We used a questionnaire survey to collect followers’ data in China at two points in time, resulting in 257 usable followers’ responses to test our hypotheses. The results show that benevolent leadership can predict follower UPB through supervisor identification. Moreover, moral identity moderates the relationship between benevolent leadership and follower UPB, as well as that between supervisor identification and follower UPB. Finally, moderated-mediation analysis revealed moral identity moderated the benevolent leadership indirect effect on the follower UPB via supervisor identification. Managers can use the insights in this study to monitor the influence of benevolence on UPB.
The issue of environmental protection in the twenty-first century has played a relatively critical role in business management. Companies developing green intellectual capital can increase their competitive advantage and may influence employees’ attitudes and behavior regarding environmental protection. This research explored the mediating effects of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on the relationship between green intellectual capital and employees’ proenvironmental behavior. Data was obtained from surveys collected from 461 employees in the high-tech industries in Taiwan. The results revealed that green human capital and green relational capital were positively related to the perception of CSR. Moreover, the perception of CSR mediated the associations between green human capital, green relational capital and employees’ pro-environmental behavior. Implications of the findings, including limitations and future research directions are discussed.
Along with the developing of the research on Organizational Behavior, more and more scholars pay attention to the unethical pro-organizational behavior (UPB). Drawing on the SO -M Model, we explored the relationship between the authoritarian leadership and employees' UPB, and the mediation effect of work stressor and moral disengagement on it. Using questionnaire survey, we collected data at two time-points and obtained 98 usable observations for hypothesis testing. The results of regression analyses showed that the authoritarian leadership can predict employees' UPB through the work stressor and moral disengagement. We discussed the implications, limitations, and future research directions.
